Brewed to mark the centenary of folk legend Bob Copper. In his lifetime, Bob Copper was responsible for collecting and recording many local folk songs, not only preserving the tunes and lyrics but ensuring that the style in which they were sung remained true to his forefathers.

As well as being Copper in name, the beer will be copper in colour and, appropriately, will have passed through our ‘brewing copper’.

Bottle 0.275l at home, Nivala. Thanks to Erzengel! Colour is slightly cloudy light orange with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Sweetness, caramel, some fruits and malts. Probably very old bottle so no hops but maltiness is quite nice and no sign of aging.

Bottle from Middle Farm Cider Centre. It pours rich amber with a orange hue and pretty much no head. The nose is rich, earthy, brown bread, spice, cereal, hay, raisin and light caramel. The taste is rich, firm bitterness, malt-driven, earthy, spicy, cereal, hint of brett, stewed peach, toasted nuts, light alcohol and caramel with a dry, slightly spiced finish. Medium body and low carbonation. Definitely one of the best bottles I have had from them. Rich and decent depth for the style. Solid stuff.

The beer starts smooth and malty. Nice caramelly body with burned hints. Minimal malty sourness for a very high drinkability with still lots of depth. Roasted caramel, burned sugar and a moderate bitterness on a nice malt-sweetish body. Round and great!

(Cask at Royal Oak, Borough, London, 25 Apr 2015) Amber colour with foamy, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of apricots, orange and a touch of the characteristic house yeast. Malty, fruity taste with orange peel, apricots, a spicy touch of yeast and a certain earthy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Tasty and well made. Quite nice.
