Part of the Calambic series, Central Valley Breakfast Sour is aged in used wine barrels for one year with the finest fruit from the Central Valley of California. It is a bright and beautiful golden sour with an abundance of fresh pressed white grapefruit juice. The tart beginnings are rounded by the lusciousness from the pears and the delicate, exotic perfume of the lychee fruit. A pleasurable ale to enjoy with brunch or anytime of the day.

From tap at BeerTemple, Amsterdam, Carnivale Brettanomyces 2016. Aroma is sour fruits, tart berries, citrus, peach, touch of vinegar. Flavour is nicely puckering sour with a dry finish. Body is medium. Nicely fruity aroma and strong sour flavour. Fantastic!

Bottle. A- Chardonnay, pear, citrus, oak, slightly funky. A- Orange color, clear liquid, no head. T- Grapefruit, lychee, white wine, tart, tangy, oak, funk. P- Medium body, average texture, medium carbonation, tangy finish. O- Quite tart and oaky. A bit acidic too. Definitely had a wine barrel influence. Would've liked the fruit to come across in a less acidic way but overall, good.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 6/27/2017. Pours fairly hazy golden amber/light orange color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big juicy/tart/tangy grapefruit, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, apricot, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, citrus zest, white wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, and cracker; with light leathery/musty funk, oaken vanilla, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, fruits, wine barrel, and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big juicy/tart/tangy grapefruit, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, apricot, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, citrus zest, white wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, and cracker; with light leathery/musty funk, oaken vanilla, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and yeast/wine tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/sour/tangy grapefruit, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, apricot, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, citrus zest, white wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, leathery/musty funk, light vanilla/pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, fruits, wine barrel, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/sourness and tangy fruit balance; with minimal puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tart/sourness, tangy fruit, and yeast/wine tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately grainy/acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.2%. Overall this is an awesome fruited sour/wild ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, fruits, wine barrel, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and pretty refreshing to drink with the modestly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish. Awesome juicy/tangy fruit presence with great well rounded Brett/Lacto complexity; nice wine barrel presence and pale/wheat malt backbone. Never overly lactic. A really enjoyable offering and spot on style example.

On tap at The Good Hop, pours a cloudy dark golden with a small white head. Aroma is quite acidic, with plenty of vinous notes, intense acidity and some tannins. Acidity is puckering and intense. Not a lambic as advertised, not even close. Harsh stuff.
