This barrel-aged ale is a celebration of the California autumn harvest. Brewed with heirloom pumpkins from La Tercera Farms in Bodega Bay, crisp Fuyu persimmons from Hamada Farms in the San Joaquin Valley and fresh ginger from the Santa Clara Valley, then aged for over a year in white wine barrels to create a deliciously complex wild ale. Enjoy with delicate white fish and roasted squash.

Many thanks to Erzengel for sharing! A almost clear deep golden beer with a small most good lasting off-white head. Aroma of tart grapes, wood, sour fruits, white wine. Taste of intense sour grapes, wood, orange fruits, some vinegar, nice!

Fantastic woody fresh nose. The beer starts smooth and mild. Nice smooth sourish with woody hints. Refreshing and deep. The winey sourness is very round, smooth and refreshing with a nice fruity mild aftertaste. The ginger is there in hints, the other fruits might be there, but I can't taste them exactly. Very nice fruity bouquet, fresh and mild. Great stuff!

375 ml bottle poured. The first of a series that I have looked for more than any other series in the world. Peach orange pour with a patchy fizz head. Orange fruit, peach, apricot, and dominant sour aroma. Sour up front. Watermelon, orange, melon. Up to expectation for sure, and worth the wait. Sourness 7/10. Excellent.

375mL bottle, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks a lot, Dany), pours a clear pale golden with a medium white head. Nose is very complex, with notes of oak barrels, light ginger and some persimmons -- very wild and complex. Flavour is an usual blend of notes -- including the persimmon, pumpkin and ginger, followed by oaky white wine notes. Very complex, cohesive and drinkable. Medium-high carbonation is appropriate here. Excellent.

375ml bottle pours a hazy gold with some creamy, lacing white head. Nose is very interesting, there is some distinct pickled ginger, white grape, grass, lemon peel, some spice, herbal, some lychee. Flavor is nice too, well blended, some acetic acid, pickled ginger, some vitamin c tablet, some herbs, lime pulp, white grape. The earthy pumpkin/squash that is hinted at in the nose is lost in the flavor. Still tastes nice though. Acetiic finish.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow with small white head. The aroma is mango and strong funk. Light sour fruit and tartness, easy to drink really easy to drink. Very impressive

Bottle @ home, via trade with bytemesis. Thanks Mike! Pours a hazy golden appearance with an off white head. Tart tropical fruity, passion fruity, lemon, guava, tangy, a touch funky aroma. Lightly puckering, lemon, passionfruit, light barnyard, white wine, fairly dry flavor. A fair amount of tart fruit. Not sure I really get the pumpkin. Fun beer overall but I prefer Reserve #1 a little better.

Aroma is surprisingly nice with some vinous notes along with citrus, faint ginger, some fruit and balanced phenolics. You can even pick up faint persimmon notes. A slight lactic character. Pours a cloudy yellow with hints of gold. Big, pillowy, white head with average retention. Light lacing. Flavor is similar to aroma but dominated more by lactic acid. Some citrus and fruitiness. Ginger, pumpkin and persimmon are all faint and secondary to the acidic notes. Some vinous oak notes in the finish. Finish is dry with light bitterness. As it warms the pumpkin and ginger become more noticeable. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium high carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall another surprisingly good beer from Almanac that was brewed at Hermitage. Surprisingly well balanced considering the variety of ingredients. If anything the spice and fruit were underutilized which is much better than heavy handed. I will say I wouldn't be surprised if the lactic acid came from a bottle rather than a bacteria. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
