INSPIRATION: Inspired by so many things it's hard to believe. While tasting the colab that Brasserie Thiriez and Saint Somewhere brewed & listening to the song "Stars" by Hum on repeat, the idea of Train to Mars finally transpired. A modern, hoppy version of a "Biere de Mars" to be brewed in January and released in Mars (March). CONCEPT: While at Chez Thiriez, we scoped out his hop selection and realized we could actually brew with both American & French hops and have the names spell out MARS; Mosaic, ARamis, and Simcoe. Well, they ended up being a perfect blend that provide the delicate yet exotic aromatic quality of Train to Mars, but used with enough restraint to accompany the Thiriez house yeast strain. Train to Mars isn't exactly "Radical" but it is our favorite brew so far and interestingly enough a third of the batch is aging in Cote du Rhone barrels accompanied by locally sourced honey and Brettanomyces; sounds a bit more like Get Radical, doesn't it? REALIZATION: By far our most collaborative effort yet. Proudly brewed (annually) with our friends at Brasserie Thiriez in Esquelbecq, France in January .

Tap into a wineglass showing honey hues and two fingers of clean white foam. The nose shows a mix of sweet malts with notes of briny sea breeze. The palate is medium bodied and moderately carbonated. Clean lager-like malt through the middle with a light hoppy bitterness.

Pours hazy burnt yellow with a big frothy white head that leaves plenty of sticky lacing and trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is tiny malty, tiny grassy and tiny spicy with crackers, freshly baked white bread, freshly harvested hay, dry soil, white pepper corns and lemon zest. Taste is slightly bitter, slightly grassy and slightly spicy. Mouthfeel is soft, dry, tiny astringent and light to medium bodied. Finish is slightly bitter with white bread, moist hay, dry soil and lemon peal. Very fresh traditional saison nose. Bit harsh in the mouth but still quite nice.

Enjoyed on tap at Moeder Lambic Fontainas in the company of my wife and also with my friend sebletitje, cheers Sebastian! Pours up with a crystal clear pure gold body that supports a nice fluffy white head. The aroma offers up crisp smelling spicy Noble hop goodness with a smattering pear and apricot fruity esters. The taste is just as crisp and dry and fresh and snappy with a blend of bitter Noble hops, modest yeasty tartness and fruity esters. Solid. Saison like yeasty spices mingle with pleasingly fresh citrus hoppiness right into the finish. How do American brewers get Saisons so horribly wrong? This is oh so right. I can literally just sit here and just drink this all day long.

Draft @ ML Fontainas. Solide et Get Radical continue à impressioner.
