AleSmith’s interpretation of this classic English-style ale is smooth, dark, and rich. A variety of specialty malts produce a brilliant dark brown color and a wonderful malt complexity. A light dose of East Kent Goldings and Styrian Goldings hops from England balance the malt sweetness without adding bitterness to the flavor profile. Reintrodcued at AleSmith in 2002, Nautical Nut Brown ale has quickly become one of our most popular beers.

Can from Beer Republic. Hazy dark brown, small, foamy, beige head. Aroma of cooca powder, toast, chestnut, mocah, pear, vague tobacco, brown bread. Taste hass sweetish pear & plum in a malt body of unsugared milk chocolate, mocha, brown bread and nuts. Earthy hoppy finish, lingering cocoa, mocha & tobacco leaves. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Just an easy-going Brown Ale.

Can from Isetan. Kinda surprised I have never had this. Pours a deep, dark brown with a thick tan head. Nose is chocolate and cocoa powder, nuts, caramel. Nutty, chocolaty flavor, lightly fruity, caramel, dried fruit notes. Damn well put together.

From a 355ml can on 26/11/2019. Pours a a deep brown with a medium head. The nose is malty with lots of biscuit, cocoa and milk chocolate. The flavour features the same, particularly the biscuit malt, with a bit of brown sugar. Finishes with an extremely gentle bitterness. Has a slightly creamy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Solid drinking but unexciting.
