AleSmith’s interpretation of this classic English-style ale is smooth, dark, and rich. A variety of specialty malts produce a brilliant dark brown color and a wonderful malt complexity. A light dose of East Kent Goldings and Styrian Goldings hops from England balance the malt sweetness without adding bitterness to the flavor profile. Reintrodcued at AleSmith in 2002, Nautical Nut Brown ale has quickly become one of our most popular beers.

Poured from the tap @ Alesmith. Draft only so figured I'd try it. Medium dark brown with small light beige head. Burnt toffee, mild nuts, solid simple brown ale.

A good ol classic style definer. All the nuttiness and brownness is spot on. I would prefer a little chewier and thicker for my taste, but it’s probably also just a bit old here. Beertemple ams

Dark brown with big fluffy head. Aroma and flavour have a strong salt malt sweetness. Some raisin and caramel notes. Perhaps slightly too sweet but very pleasant.

Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (style 13B). Can 32 cl - Batch 2558 (BB undeclared - Canned on 1/18/23). AROMA: medium malty aroma with caramel, toasty and slight nutiness and roasted notes. APPEARANCE: dark amber color with fine particles in suspension. medium-low ivory head with medium retention. TASTE: similar to the aroma with medium-high malty notes (nuttiness, caramel, toasty and roasted). medium bitterness with a dry and low roasty finish that persists. MOUTHFEEL: medium-low body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: an english style brown ale with too much roasted notes.

355 ml can, as AleSmith Nut Brown English-Style Brown Ale, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 5.0%. Deep brown colour, moderate beige head. Aroma of brown malts, brown bread and prunes. Good mouthfeel for its strength. The flavour has the same elements as the aroma, also some caramel. Low bitterness.
