As CoCoNut Porter. Pitch black, small but steady tan head, mostly diminishing after a while, good lacing. Aroma malts, bit toasted, dark fruits, cocos (becoming more prominent gradually). Taste malty medium bitter and sweet, malty, spicy, milk chocolate, hint of cocos (also more prominent when warming up). Malty bittersweet aftertaste, spicy, light cocos. Medium body, oily to creamy texture, soft carbonation, a porter to savour slowly, rich and balanced, excellent.

355ml can. Pours cola like translucent black with little head. Aroma is chocolate, plum and plenty of toast. Flavour is plum up front leading into a toast and biscuit finish. This is a nice porter done right, but the coconut is subtle enough I’m not sure I’d mention it if it weren’t for the name.

$3 can. Beautiful pour. Nice tan rocky head. First taste is much less coconut in there, but its there. For the most part, a simple beery smell. At slightly below room temp this stuff comes across like a damp old burned wood chunk of used campfire. Goes down easy, just a little alky is detected, hides it well for a 6%. Decent carbonation for a nearly room temp brew, gives it almost a creamy feel to it. In the end it seems a sweet maple flavor pulls thru. Not bad!

Tasted from the tap on the 22/10/2016. Not fresh. Dark brown colour with a medium chocolate brown head. Aroma of cocoa, cocnut and roasted malts. Taste is almost the same but not so intense. Next one please!

Pours black from the can. The tan head soon fades to a wispy thin layering. An intriguing aroma greets the nose: the usual strong roasted notes of a porter, but softened with a coconut sweetness. Still relatively subtle but noticeable, as though someone poured a porter into a nearly finished pina colada. Taste is lightly chocolate sweet with a mild, smooth finish inflected with a touch of coconut. Body is medium and the alcohol is well disguised. On the whole this is on the sweeter side of the class and a creamy milk chocolate with a tropical twang takes precedence over the more bitter coffee notes. Still, the balance is excellent here. Pure sipping pleasure. Second tasting 10/2017: dropped by .1 to 4.0

12 oz can poured into a tulip. Digging the new can design refresh! Dark brownish black with two fingers of light tan head. Aromas of sweet coconut, roasty notes, dark chocolate, coffee. Tastes of cocoa, some sweetened coconut, coffee and chocolate, some vanilla. Medium body with a semi-dry and slightly syrupy finish.
