Appearance- very dark, nearly black, a thick mocha head of around one finger. Aroma- chocolate and coffee dominate, with a fair amount of fruity hops- almost black IPA-like, biscuity malt, fresh hops, chocolate orange. Taste- coffee, roast malt, earthy malt, orange peel, hints of pineapple and tropical fruit, bitter dark chocolate. Full mouthfeel, but easy to drink.

330ml bottle. Pours black with a large thick tan head, one of the biggest I've seen on a stout of this strength. Aroma is massive coffee with some fruity hops, roast malts and chocolate. Taste is massive coffee again, fruity hops, pine, chocolate, liquorice, roast malts, bitter finish... You could almost call this a black IPA. Full bodied, smooth creamy mouthfeel with good carbonation. A gorgeous imperial stout, so glad this didn't stay as a one-off brew.

660ml bottle (from trade with theydon_bois, thanks Colin). Pours black with a dark brown head. Coffee, chocolate, plum, touch of salted caramel, biscuit, booze, fig, little umami smoke stuff. Not much hoppy left, but the coffee has survived the age and the underlying stout is superb. Very good.

Bottle picked up from Beer Revolution, Hay on Wye, Powys, Wales, consumed at Builth Wells, Powys, Wales in the company of Isobel, Jude, Baz, Dom, Georgia, Rhys, Bailey. Sunday 31st January 2017 Pours black with a beige film. Hoppy, coffee and if I tried this blindfolded I might think it was was an Imperial BIPA. Dry, dark fruits but roasty and bitter. This is a wonderful beer, I am busy making Artic Role hence lousy review. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 4.0
