Bottle from House of Trembling Madness bottle shop, York. Almost black. Tiny, but tight, lasting, tan head. Looks like an espresso in a glass. Aroma isn’t coffee straight away, as I expected. Rather, it’s the hops at first. Grassiness initially, then the dark malts pop up. Coffee too, green, rather than roasted. A hint of cured meat smoke. Taste is astringently dry at first. A sweetness saunters along after everyone else has been and gone. Big, dry, roast coffee bitter palate and finish.

Bottled @ de Molen, small sample. Pitch black, short frothy head. Aroma of heavy dark chocolat, licorice and coffee. Loads of dark malts, actually usually I dont enjoy the burned and licorice like stouts, but it was made to perfection. The hoppyness I can hardly find in the aroma, but the coffee and the dark malts are wonderful. Bitterness from both hops and malts comes through in flavor as well. Thick velvety mouthfeel. Wonderful stuff!
