Great American Beer Festival 2012. Black with more carbonation than what I just tried from Rahr. More roasted grain flavor, with a very light hint of smoke, and a good palate.

Tap @ Wynkoop, Denver. Pours very dark brown with a small offwhite head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, coffee, some fruit. Taste is hard roasted malt, caramel, coffee, notes of fruit. Thin to medium body, soft carbonation. Rather boring beer. 040312

Before GABF i decided I needed some food so i wondered into cool looking place with tapas and beer pairing menu called City O City. I got a portobella BBQ slider and the B3K. Pours a dark brown, and tastes of burnt coffee, a little soy sauce, with slight sweetness and nuttiness. its pretty carbonated and paired great with sandwich.

Tap at Cherry Cricket, which is apparently owned by Wynkoop - a bit chewier and less easy drinking than a schwarz should be, but there are decent things going on - fairly sweet, with a decent dose of chocolate character, a light bit of roast, very faint smokiness - moderate bitterness, but sweetness is the prominent characteristic - lightly bitter finish - decent.

tap at the brewpub - Pours dark amber with an off-white head. Smells of roasted malt with nothing else really standing out. It tastes of roasted malt with mild hops and a touch of coffee. This medium bodied brew has a good, full flavor and finishes with lingering roastiness. Nice brew.

Shaker pint draft at the Cherry Cricket in Denver, Colorado. Pour is black with a splash of cola brown. No head to speak of. Aroma is slight roastiness, some grass, not a whole lot else. Taste is the roast malt up front, followed by some grassy sweetness. The finish lingers with more roast, then some dirty yeastiness. Palate features good carbonation making it quite drinkable and nice with a burger. Nice enough.

A deep dark schwarzebier with reddish hues and a thick resilient moka head. A non-descript malt aroma. In mouth, a light fluffy schwarzebier. Enough said. On tap at brewpub, 24 Jan. 2009.

Sample at the brewpub. This beer is a clear dark reddish-brown color with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Roasted malt, chocolate and light hops in the nose. Medium-bodied with malt, anise bread, and chocolate flavors with touches of hops in the background. The finish is roasty with a chocolate malt aftertaste that lingers a bit. Above average overall.
