Not quite English. Not quite American. Foggy Notion is a big ole, 100% Ozarks-born barleywine ale. Boatloads of malt give this full-bodied beauty a deep-copper color and light brown sugar flavor. Six months of aging nurtures hints of oak & stone fruit, making Foggy Notion perfect for sharing or sipping alone.

12 oz bottle purchased at Berbiglia Midtown in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is a hazed orange brown copper with a smaller tan head. The aroma is sweet caramel malt, some nut and a warming alcohol presence. The taste is sticky brown sugar caramel malt, turns a bit metallic, some apple fruit, then the alcohol heat shows in the finish. The alcohol was better integrated in the nose, a bit sharp in the taste. The palate is medium bodied, mouth coating texture, ultimately on the dried side with the alcohol. Decent, I’ll try this again with a few months on it.
