I’ve seen this beer around for years. Never tried it although I have had a couple of years of the Deschutes imperial porters. Like those significantly. I located a single 12 oz bottle at my best craft beer shop and have it cooled off now. Lift the lid and pour into a Cowtown snifter. The arrival is a sturdy, dark brown with a decent representation of light tan foam that departs mostly. I smell chocolate, grain and field. The taste ultimately, I get light chocolate, cereal, berries and a small bitterness. I appreciate the depth of the higher abv brews, so this falls down in my estimation because of the thinness. My story and I’m sticking to it.

I used to like this beer much more but I guess times Change. The Aromas are dark malt, toast, cocoa, molasses and a bit of licorice. Flavors are very much like nose, bittersweet, aggressive carbonation which doesn't really help I think. Still a decent beer.

Tap @ Deschutes taproom, Bend. Pours clear deep brown, small off-white head. Aroma has liquorice nods, dark malt. Taste is liquorice-forward, distant chocolate, fairly light bodied, easy-drinking, gentle coffee hints. Nice flavourful, light porter.
