Highbinder is a flavourful, yet smash-able American style Pale Ale that pours a rich amber colour. Citrus and Stone-fruit aromas are in abundance thanks to a generous amount of Mosaic and Calypso hops, and specialty malts round out the body creating a complex, but balanced pale.

Tap at the Abbotsford Brewpub. Poured a clear golden straw colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is grainy malt, light citrus, melon, gooseberry. The flavour is light to moderate bitter, with a grainy, mineral, light, slightly watery, crisp, fresh, light fruity dry hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation,

355ml can into schooner glass. Great nose of tropical fruit, touch of malt, hint of wood shavings. Golden amber beer with a solid head of foam. Slight haze, high carbonation. Medium body. Taste and finish are bitter and cleansing. Well balanced with lingering notes of malt and aspirin. Nice.

Bottle (Wine Republic, Windsor). Hazy deep gold with a white head. Vibrant aroma with grapefruit and passionfruit, some toast and a little pine. Moderate carbonation, slightly creamy. Not all that sweet but there’s a little mandarin as well as grapefruit. Clean so the slight pine and moderate bitterness come through nicely at the end. Good, fresh. If it’s the same next time I find it, it’ll be a regular.
