21/11/2018. Bottle at 26 Furnival St (the pub formally known as Castle), London. Pours very pale gold with a small short lasting bubbly white head. Aroma of pear drop sweets and light sweet apples. Quite heavy sweetness, minimal bitterness/tartness. Moderate body, oily texture, above average carbonation. Sweet and quite artificial. Not bad, but not great either.

500ml bottle from Producers’ Stand at Good Food Show NEC 2016 - Clear green tinged body, no head. Nose is fruity ripe pears, taste not as sickly and false as any of the other commercial Perry I’ve had. Actually not bad.

Bottle from the brewer’s own stand at the Good Food Show at Birmingham NEC. Pale gold. The pear’s really not showing much here if at all. Tannic apple skin is really the only flavour in what feels like rather a rough-and-ready (and slightly thin) cider.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours a clear very pale yellow with a shortlived white foam head. Nose is apple, pear, aliitle sulphur. Taste is sweet pear, sugary and floal fruity, plus some tartness. Oily mouthfeel, light to medium bodied, medium to high carbonation, lingering sweet at the finish. OK.

Bottle from Brewer’s Droop, Bristol. This had been lurking at the back of a cupboard for some time, as I feared it would turn out to be a sickly sweet mess. However, I was pleasantly surprised as, although it’s no perry, it contained some dryish fruit character and avoided excessive fizziness. Pale green in colour and not bad. The label refers to it being made in Somerset, so I wonder if this is a Thatcher’s re-badge.
