7th April 2010. Clear dark brown beer. Light palate. Slightly dry palate. Neutral malt with a hint of appley greenness. Semi dry finish. Supreme blandness!

Cask-conditioned at the Victoria Family & Commercial, Leeds 23/06/09. Brownish-red, with plenty of caramel, a hint of chocolate and short, vaguely roasty finish. Ok.

(Cask at Wenlock Arms, London, 16 Apr 2009) Dark brown colour with brief, off-white head. Malty, roasted nose with dark fruit and caramel. Malty, taste with notes of dark fruit, wort bread and caramel. Not very exciting, but a decent and well made mild.

[Unicorn Inn, Dolgellau] Deep reddish brown - seems pale compared to the brown-black of your usual mild. Not much flavour to be had here - a fleeting glimpse of chcolate and that was about it. Very smooth and easy to drink, but not a beer I’ll be coming back to.

Cask handpull at Cherry Pickers, Folkestone. Deep ruby colour with lasting beige head. I haven’t had this in years! Some dark caramel on nose. bit thin of flavour in mouth, some dark toffee, some choc. Finish has no pronounced hop, some dryness. Traditional mild, not huge on flavour, but in good condition which shows that they must get through the milds here. Could do with more flavour and body, but it’s fine for what it is.

Cask at Blue Bell York 3 May 06. Dark brown colour. Smooth and a bit uninteresting. Drinkable though.

[Cask at GBBF 2004] A red-brown beer with a light brown head - on the lighter sides of milds. Both the aroma and flavor are sweet with caramel being most dominant - it is hard to find the roastyness.
