Bottle from Rehills of Jesmond. Appearance - deep brown with red shades. Nose - burnt bread and light molasses. Possibly a touch of raisin. Taste - more bread and raisin. Like toasted fruit loaf. Treacle. Palate - medium bodied with a crunchy middle and end. Overall - good beer for this wintery night.

Gravity cask at Bedford Beer Festival. Dark amber, almost ruby, and clear as you like. A thin white head from natural carbonation. Malt, forest floor and cherry cola in the bouquet. The taste lifts it up a notch: fruity sweet with a bitter malty backbone. Short finish, medium palate. Many would dismiss this as a twiggy brown but I think it’s got bags of character.

500ml bottle. Pours a clear copper-brown ruby-tinged dark amber colour, with a foam beige head leaving alittle lacing and aroma of malt, bready & nutty. Taste is malty with caramel, doughy notes plus some sweetness and light lingering bitterness. Smooth slighly creamy mouthfeel, light to medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, dryish malty finish. Quite OK.
