Light body for beer of this strength; spice and herb nose with flavours of candied fruit. Aromatic, long finish.

500 mL bottle from Whole Foods Market, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a pale straw color, lightly hazy, with a moderate sized frothy head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of honey, stone fruits and paint. Taste is weird. A bit bready, cinnamon, apple, paint, clay. Medium bodied. Strongly carbonated.

Bottle from River City Cellars on 01/31/2009. Best before 19.11.09. Slightly hazy golden body with a large fluffy white head. Sweet fruity aroma, hints of apple, almost cidery, with some caramel and light spice. Sweet apple, some cider and fruit flavor with light caramel and some alcohol notes. Medium body with moderately high carbonation and a bit of alcohol warming.

Very sour flavor. Thin, almost nonexistent head. Light, golden yellow in color. Not particularly memorable.

Pour is a bright golden with a large white head. Aroma is decent with some citrus and spice. Flavor is almost like a cider. Lots of sour apple and cinnamon. Weird for a tripel and nothng something i would think i would ever see in a Belgian. They were almost giving these away at the W&C place in stl so i could not pass it up.

500ml bottle from Country Club Liquors; Nose of apple and alcohol, smellas like a cider; lightly hazy dark gold with a big white head; flavor has some apple, grain, and a touch of yeast. Not as good as their Dubbel! If I had to drink gluten free it would be OK but the Dubbel is better!

500 ml. bottle from Nugget (Davis, CA). Aroma is clean, light stone fruits. Color is slightly hazy orange tinged gold. The white head stayed for awhile, and left some slight lace. Something of a perfume aroma as the glass (MJ tasting glass) approaches the lips. Thin to medium bodied with coarse, but creamy, carbonation. The flavor is indeed fruity. It has that tripel alcohol flavor impact. There’s some heat. It has light malt sweetness (without barley!), but that’s not dominant. The finish is lightly hot, pretty dry, and has fruit battling with bitter. The fruit could be a tad grapey, or a tad appley, or a tad of some light stone fruit. I’d say this is strikingly different, but so many of the De Proefbrouwerij ales are. It is what it is, and well into the bottle it is turning applish. Je ne regrette rien. For the moment, anyway.

Fluffy off white head...smells like lemons...medium golden body, very effervescent, yet flat at the same time....sugared lemons...tangy finish like alka-seltzer...alcohol is well disquised

Sampled from a 16.9 oz brown bottle this beer poured a pale golden color with a huge white head. The aroma was bready and doughy. The flavor was lightly spicy uncooked bread dough with a long and odd doughy finish.
