Bourbon Barrel-Aged Jalapeno Imperial Stout Beer.
Mika´s beer is an Imperial Stout brewed with amber and chocolate malts and roasted barley to give an amazing rich cofee-chocolate character and jet black colour. But being a metal fant Mika wanted to turn the volume right up, so he asked us to add jalapeno chillies and to mature the beer in bourbon barrels. We loved the idea and here is the result. It´s big, bold and bursting with rich flavours andfinishes with a mouth tingling spicy heat.

I'm 99.9% sure this was the unlabeled secret beer in the Canadian Xmas Innis and Gunn gift pack. Black pour, with a small mocha head. Aroma is roasty, subtle frutiness, with some pepper notes. Light heat, distinct but very faint hot pepper notes, soft soy, and roasted character with some coffee and caramel.

(Bottle) Brownish black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with espresso, chocolate, soy sauce, black bread, vanilla, wood and a touch of pepper. Malty, roasted taste with notes of sweet espresso, chocolate, soy sauce, vanilla, wood and a mild roasty bitterness in a sweetish finish. A slight chilli bite coming through after a while. Medium body, sweet. On the sweet side, but really tasty, with a rich bourbon/vanilla character. Very nice.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, beige head. Rather weak, chocolately, minimally roasty, dark malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, whiffs of peppery chili spiciness, oaky Bourbon overtones. Taste is sweet-ish dark malty, slightly chocolately, notes of caramel, chocolate, Bourbon, hints of vanilla, initially relatively mild, accumulating, peppery chili spiciness; creamy texture with minimally watery rarefaction, smooth, soft, silky, minimally sticky palate. Well balanced, harmonious, not overspiced, integrated, supporting BA flavours. Not the heaviest Impy Stout, but very good for the relatively low abv level.

Bottle split at CBC Islington, thanks to Leighton, 17/10/18. Black with a decent tan covering. Nose is dark malts, light roast, chocolate, faint bourbon ring. Taste comprises coffee, spice, charr, toffee, cocoa sprinkle, mellow roast. Medium bodied, with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close. A little on the basic side for the style but sippable.

Bottle shared in London - picked up at CBR 2018. Pours deep brown with a foamy mocha head. Quite sweet, lots of dark sugars, subtle chili burn, cocoa. Full bodied with active, massage carbonation. Warming finish, a bit sticky sweet, more peppery burn, sugary chocolate. Fun if a bit sweet and basic.

Craft Islington. Bottleshare. Thanks to LKS. Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Smooth and fairly dry dark malts, sweet cream and dark chocolate. Lightly tangy and mellow fruity bourbon. Chilli spice starts to burn in the back end. Good enough.
