1/5/2019. Bottle from CentrAle, Newcastle. Pours dark brown with a dark red tint and an average sized short lasting off-white head. Aroma of dark chocolate, cherry liqueur chocolates, black forest gateaux, hint of wood and vanilla. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness and body. Oily texture, slightly above average carbonation. Bitter cherry chocolate finish. Quite good.

Newcastle jaunt. Keg at the Newcastle Tap. Pours dark brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of light chocolate and faint roast. Taste is more of the same. Thin finish. No discernible fruit character.

Handpull cask at the Head of Steam in Leicester. Dark brown with a smidge of mahogany and only a bit translucent. Nice big beige head. Nutty aroma with some bittrr chocolate, but I'm not getting much beyond a bog standard stout. Taste is bittersweet with a sourness in the latter half of the sip. I get a fair dollop of stone fruit - cherries and plums - in the long finish. Oily, flat body. Fun to drink but not the most memorable stout.

Cask @ Coracle, Ironbridge. Pours dark with creamy tan topping. Some very subtle cherry on the nose, coffee. Taste doesn't really deliver the cherry but does bare plenty of dry roasted malt and espresso, with some underlying chocolate notes. Not bad.

Cask from stall at Raby Castle. Dark brown colour, beige foam head and malty earthy aroma. Taste is malty, light roasty, caramel, raisins, dark fruity with alittle spice and earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry nutty bitter finish. Quite drinkable.
