Milk sugar in your stout is like cream in your coffee. Just enough sweetness to keep the dark roast in check. Rich and robust, our classic Milk Stout exhibits notes of dark chocolate, freshly brewed coffee, caramelized sugar and roasted malt.

On tap at White Horse SW6. Dark Ruby in colour with a thin, but long-lasting caramel-coloured head. Nose; quite subtle wood. Palate; smooth, coffee, dark chocolate, creamy, malty, liquorice root and charcoal. Very easy to drink.

Cola, roast, some fruity acidity. This beer was a touch disappointing, but my hopes were probably a bit too high. The head is beige and creamy, while the liquid is very dark cola. The aroma has a lot of coffee, cola and milk chocolate. The flavor is sweet and a bit acidic. Unfortunately, it’s a bit simple and kinda cloying. The mouthfeel is smooth and rather thin. It’s an alright stout but not as satisfying as I was hoping.

I like it. A thick black pour with a nice head. Interesting flavor, with some nuttiness, some chocolate and coffee, and a very smooth, sweet finish. Not very bitter at all (guess that’s the lactose working there). I’m going to have to try some other milk stouts to compare this to.

Nitro: Dark brown, near black pour with a creamy brown head. A smooth, silky, and creamy mouthful just like you’d expect from a milk stout on nitro. Roasty, chocolate, and faint coffee. A nice balanced flavor and very drinkable.

Bottle. Dark brown with ruby tint and a small brown head. Chocolate and coffee aroma. Moderate body with a slight carbonated tingle on the tongue. Chocolate espresso flavor finishing with a pleasant roasty bitterness.

Bottle. Dark hazy brown color with a thin tan head. Sweet aroma of chocolate, roasted malt and some coffee. Creamy mouth feel, mild and easy to drink. Aftertaste reminded of hot chocolate but with roasted tones. A nice stout, although sweet.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a dark hazy brown color with a thin head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, brown sugar with a creamy note and a very light roast. Taste is roasted malts, coffee, brown sugar, chocolate, vanilla, cream, leafy bitter hops in the finish. Medium bodied. Smooth and creamy. Good beer... one of my favorites from Left Hand.
