Petrus Van Roy stichtte in 1866 brouwerij Van Roy.

Bottle from Sandersput, Ninove. New Tripel produced by Caroline Van Roy, great-great-granddaughter of Pieter Jozef, founder of Van Roy brewery, which went bankrupt in 1994 and 1997. In association with De Graal. Pours clear golden with a thinning, frothy, off-white head; some lacing. The aroma contains banana, pineapple, orange peel, citrus, spices, grassy hops. It tastes light to medium fruity sweet, hints of ripe banana & apple, and light to medium spicy bitter, a bit yeasty. Drying, hoppy finish, bit yeasty, with lingering impressions of fruit. Medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. Brewed as an easy to drink "allemansbiertje" ("beer for everyone"), and indeed, the Belgian beerscape receives another straightforward Tripel. I find the initiative charming, however, and I couldn't expect a 21st century craft beer in honour of a 19th century brewer. Or could I? At least tastewise, there's nothing wrong here.
