Has an intense roasted coffee aroma. It comes through well in the flavour too. The dark malts combine well giving a pleasant bittersweet taste. Surprisingly full flavoured for just 6%.

Black colored, medium beige creamy head, nice lacing. Aroma is of chocolate, black and roasted malt and coffee, some brown sugar and licorice and bit yeast. Taste is medium sweet brown sugar, licorice and chocolate, roasted coffee with a dry coffee bitter finish and aftertaste. Medium bodied, bit creamy, average carbonation.

Zwart bier met schuim. Smaak is bitter hoppig, bittere chokolade, koffie en vanille. Erg goed, drinkt makkelijk weg.

Bottle shared thanks to Deanso. Pours murky gravy brown with floaters and a nice thick tan head. Aroma of coffee, malt, plastercine, overripe dark fruits, caramel and light licorice. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Coffee stout, or at least intended as such, with a dark reddish burgundy colour, hazy, but translucid and definitely not black as a stout ought to be, looking more like a dubbel; bears a medium thick, relatively stable, pale beige head consisting of tiny bubbles. Pleasant malty and fruity aroma of raisins, caramel, dark chocolate touch, strong toasted bread, sweet dry cookies, banana, sweet cherries, gingerbread, hazelnuts, marzipan and indeed a hint of coffee grounds, but no refined espresso as you’ll find in some other coffee beers; there is a light off-flavour of DMS (sulphuric cooked cabbage) as well, but fortunately not too strong. Sweetish onset, dried fruits, raisins, faint banana hint, pineapple accent, finely tingling carbo, very nutty, toasted and caramelly malt flavour, lean and smooth and certainly not as thick and oily as the ’stout’ denotation above would suggest; a ’cold back coffee’ taste appears in the middle and end phase, roastedly bitter and actually stronger and sharper than expected based on the aroma, coming in as a nice surprise, really. Finish is coffee bitterness plus earthy, peppery hop bitterness and a faint hint of alcohol, which should have been less apparent in a beer of this ABV, but pleasantly warming the chest. A powdery coffee flavour keeps sitting on the tongue after swallowing. Certainly a decent beer, I did enjoy this, but it is not a stout, rather a coffee-flavoured dubbel.

33cl bottle into a Chimay chalice at home on 22nd June 2015. Very dark brown with a ruby hue, the head a tanned foam blanket. Not as ’Coffee’ as the name suggests, but still has an aroma and taste that leads with a ’Coffee’ nose and flavour. Dark chocolate notes also appear and the beer is more complex than just ’Coffee’ with other things to find within the brew. I liked it. bought off Rudy in De Bierboom, Brugge.

330 ml. bottle. Blackish dark brown with faint red furniture hue, bubbly mocha head. Nose is coffee grounds, vegetable & sourish coffee. Taste is a bit thin, slightly vegetable coffee, plenty of coffee grounds, light bitter liquorish & root. Cheap coffee from a coffee machine. Body is a bit thin & the finish is rather grainy. This needed to be thicker & with better quality coffee, still drinks okay. Ingredient list is extremely questionable, not listing coffee, I don’t believe that.Earlier Rating: 10/7/2013 Total Score: 4.433 cl. bottle sampled @ Modeste 2013. Pours a dark brown with mocha bubbles. Nose is sweet, lots of chocolate, reminds me very heavily of a cold coffee drink, mocha & sweet malts. Tastes basically like an ice cold coffee beverage sold at the supermarket with some sweet chocolate, malts, hint coffee & sugar. Body is even similar to said drink. Buk Stars... Starbuks.... Very enjoyable, best new brew for me from Modeste 2013.
