Can, 7.7%. Color: Almost black, beige head. Aroma: Roasted malt, coffee. Taste: Smooth mouthfeel. Roasted malt with coffee and mocha notes and lightly cocoa and spicy hints. Moderate bitter and moderate to medium sweet. Medium body, low carbonation. Fruity and slightly acidic coffee hints at finish. Nice one.

Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - dark brown to black with some orange chinks around the edges. Lacy fawn head. Nose - burnt bread, raisins and treacle. Taste - treacle, raisins. Maybe dates. Palate - close to full bodied and rich in texture. Long linger. But fresh enough to allow you to return. Overall - great stuff.

Good stable cream-coloured head over black beer. Sweetish/roasted nose. Some wood. Sweetish, bit of molasses - with backing from roasted malts and dark bread. Finish has a tad harsh tannines. Medium bodied at least; medium carbonation. Quite decent stout - better than the classic Irish stouts.
