Old bottle of unknown age gifted by Todd, thanks for the tick. Brilliantly clear deep amber color without much of a head. Mostly sherry on the nose with maybe a hint of fruit. Flavor is dusty sherry and light fruit. Way past its prime, but drinkable.

Light smoke and some earthy basement resin. Hint of raisin and light florals. Dark brown pour with good head and lacing. Light sweet finish. Bottle.

330 ml bottle into chalice, bottled on 6/13/2012. Pours moderately murky deep ruby red color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, prune, cherry, fig, apple, caramel, toast, molasses, brown sugar, brown bread, light chocolate, clove, pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of raisin, prune, cherry, fig, apple, caramel, molasses, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, light chocolate, light clove, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/earthy spice on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, prune, cherry, fig, apple, caramel, molasses, toast, brown sugar, bread bread, light chocolate, light clove, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/yeast balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth and fairly creamy/slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this was a very nice dubbel style. All around good balance, robustness, and complexity of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Normal dubbel type aromas and taste, looks thick but comes off sort of watery. Dark brown, like a cola, with thin skin of a beige head. Aroma is dried fruits and a hint of molasses. Taste is more of the same with a hint wood, eat and bourbon barrel.Very short finish.

Bit fluffy light-greige head over clear red-brown beer, as watered-down cola. Rich cake aromas, fruity-estery nose, some dark malts. Watery fruit flavours; sweet, cheap sugarsyrup, brown candi sugar solution. Retronasal more fruity yeastesters. Watery, light body. Bit fizzy, even, despite little visual carbonation. The nose was promising. From there, it went downhill. I have some reservations as to the Du Bocq provenance. Scheldebrouwerij, anyone?

Smooth light deeet Dubbel. Nice soft finish with a light touch of bitterness. Nice but somewhat one dimensional.

bottle - Pours amber with big, chunky yeast flakes and an off-white head. It’s a bubbly brew with an aroma of yeast, malt, and dark fruit. The malts with dark fruit tones come through pretty well in the flavor. Medium bodied with a lively palate, this brew was quite enjoyable and I’m surprised at the low ratings.

Bottle 50cl swing top: Poured a deep brown with an off white to tan head. Aroma was sweet malt and fruit. Taste was sweet caramel/maple malt not as dark fruit as the aroma had led me to believe.

Bottle. Dark amber body, slight hazy. Big, very fizzy off-white head that diminishes slowly. The aroma is sweet malty with caramel, cookies and toast. Notes of flowers, honey with hints of raisin and dark fruit. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately tart. Taste of chewy caramel. Light acidity throughout. Medium body with a velvety texture and lively carbonation. Nice balance between sweet and bitter/tart to start, but the aftertaste is slightly soapy from the lingering bitterness.

Bottle of unknown age. Pours with no head and a murky brown body. Aroma is offensive with yeast, soy sauce, marmite, vegimite, alcohol and dark fruits. Tastee is better...watery dark fruits, grain, yeast and brown sugar. Watery mouthfeel, light carbonation.
