Golden coloured body with a very thin off-white head. Aroma of pale malt, wheat, rice, caster sugar and very little else. Light-bodied; Strong rice and cereal flavour with the malt easily the strongest and some of the unfinished sugars and the grass also noticeable. Aftertaste is watery, plain, simple and malty - not too much going on here, but at least it isn’t bad flavours - just ricey and cerealy flavours with little else going on. Overall, a light beer with not too much flavour that isn’t bad or offensive almost works out as a positive for this locale! I sampled this 33 cL CLEAR bottle purchased from Magasin Tiahura (convenience store) at MK 25,0 on Mo’orea, French Polynesia for 295 XPF (CPF) on 16-August-2016 sampled a few hours later at my hotel here in Moorea on 16-August-2016.

Ahhh, the forbidden beer. Dull colour, no lasting head. Smells very appley and sweet. Tastes very sweet. Gluey and hopless, this was lagered for what, a day? Unrefined. Is the Tabu brand for botched batches of Hinano?

Warning! Early amateur rating! Bottle in Tahiti. Crisp and refreshing, hint of citrus. Not bad.

Yellow beer with a metallic sheen; medium, dense, disappearing head. End of bottle with a strange sludge. Dull malty nose. Bit of honey, and some leafiness. Short bitterish spike, then unform honeylike sweetness, straw-like. Bit lightstruck - small wonder in the clear glass abomination. Grist slickness, dull and flat. Usually, this type of exotic brews get defended by quotations as "Tastes ideally under the palms in the sun on the beach, etc. etc. " I doubt this could be invoked with this sweetness overload. Poor Stef, where were you, if you had to content yourself with this... palmtree... beach...?

Bottled. Pale golden, airy gead. Papery mustardy nose. Sweet and bland with plenty of vegetables. No substance and no bitterness. Tahitian Corona in a clear bottle...
