Copper. Powerful sweet booze up front. Caramel, sweet ripe fruit, dough, toffee, and more booze. Finish is lingering boozy heat and a sweet toffee note forms, as well. Medium to full bodied. I wasn’t expecting quite the boozy profile but once I got past that it was really a nice BW.

[3/2/15] Draught at Big Time Brewery in Seattle. Clear amber. Aroma of malt, caramel, some fruitiness. Sweet flavor, malty, caramelly, with some cookies, some fruitiness and a slightly bitterish finish with a bit of alcohol. Medium-bodied, oily mouthfeel. Kinda boozy.

On tap at Old Town Ale House, pours a dark orangey amber with a small beige head. Aroma and flavour both of caramel malts, brown sugar and some metallic notes that are slightly off-putting. Not too sweet and if ideal, this would be quite well-balanced, though not the deepest barley wine. Maybe something wong with the keg. Decent, nevertheless.

Bomber from riversideAK. Nose is toffee, golden raisins, brown sugary sweetness, and some floral hoppiness. Cloudy rusty orange with a small light beige head. Flavor is toffee, hints of molasses, some alcohol, and light bitterness.

Bottle shared by Sarah, thanks! Pours a near clear red with an amber hue and an off white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has notes of toffee and sweet bread with a hint of alcohol and caramel. Flavor is a combination of caramel and sweet bread with a bit of warming alcohol in the finish.

Courtesy of bvc. This 2009 bomber pours crystal clear amber with ruby hues and off white head. The aroma is a bit boozy and also has notes of caramel, dates, some earthiness and molasses. The taste is smooth sweetness from rich honey, caramel and molasses followed by pine hops, some malts, dates, prunes, raisins and slippery spicy hops. This is one yummy barleywine.

2008 Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a hazy brown body and a small, fading head. Aroma of faded hops, caramel, raisins, fruit, tea. Taste is molasses, hops, caramel and toffee. Syrupy mouthfeel. Very nice.

22 oz bottle courtesy of bvc. 2008 Vintage. Pour is a hazy copper brown golden, with gorgeous cascading settling building up a thick 2 inch off white head. Great lacing coats the glass as the head retreats. Beautiful beer. Aroma of sweet caramel maltiness, grassy pine hoppiness and very full and rich resin earthiness. Full nosed, very melded and complex. Taste is sharp sweet caramel, some honey sugar, more of the resin hop grassiness. Palate is medium to full, with nice gentle bitterness that follows the flavor all the way to the finish. Overall, a very enjoyable hoppy "PNW" style Barley Wine. Really nice one, thanks Brandon.

Small cream-coloured head over hazy red-amber beer. Vinous, grapey nose, raisins. Alcohol & fusels, fermenting peaches, rum in the finish. Vinous taste, wry-woody, with a cake-like just not-sweetish underbuild, hops lurking. Very well-bodied, quite slick, velvety texture. Nice, reasonably complex barley wine. Sweetness (luckily) missing, a good, if not really exceptional one. Good catch, DonS!

Bottled. A hazy dark amber beer with an OK orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of prunes, and a sharp bitterness. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of prunes and hops, as well as with an alcohol presence, making it a thick hop juice, leading to a very bitter end. I like it.
