pours a very dark amber almost brown. Interesting aroma of dark caramel malt, and some corriander, and pine. Flavour is actually quite woody, and piney, with an odd aftertaste of kosher dill pickles, and is quite bitter in the finish. Wow, this is odd. I"m not liking this.

Bottle: Poured a deep clear brown color alt with a medium foamy head with average retention and no lacing. Aroma of huge caramel malt with some medium sweetness is quite enjoyable. Taste is dominated by some huge caramel malt with some notes of nuts and a light hoppy finish. Full body with some average carbonation. Definitely the best thing I have had from this somewhat inconsistent brewery.

A dark clear brown ale with a thick lacing moka head. Light nutty malt in aroma with light lactic notes. In mouth, caramel and nutes, with light off flavours, and astringent bitterness. Bought at Joannette’s on Oct. 7 and tasted Oct. 10 5-4-5-3-11 2007.
A reddish amber ale with a thin off white head. A classy English hops in aroma with light butterscotch and light vanilla. In mouth, a crisp biscuit malt, light C-hops, medium bodied. Nice classy alt. Shared with the Outaouais Crew, at Old Stock Tasting No. IV, Nov.11 2006, as Sous Verre Alt. 7-3-7-3-13

Bouteille.

Beer seems a bit undercarbonated, I fear the crowncork has loosened somewhat on the long journey Montreal-Ursel; hence I’ve used this faster than intended. Red chestnut, bit muddy colour with a medium reddish-cream coloured head. Caramel, and very earthy notes, dark-leafy. Some resin and chocolate. My companion complains of sulfide. BIt of ureum, we decide both. Very ashy taste, smokey, tad of coffee and reverting to earthy impressions. Cigar ashes and cigar covering leaf. A bit of malt- and other sugars in the background. There IS some sulphur present. Very creamy, nearly velvety MF, giving a rich impression, even when the finish speaks about more watery contenances. Quite good beer, IMO, even when my companion vehemently disagrees. A Düsseldorfer might not recognise this as Alt, however. Grand merci, Luc!
