Large frothy white head that slipped instantly into a medium yellow brew below. Well carbonated, just doesn’t want to make a head. Light sweet honey and grain aroma. Mostly sweet with the hops making a brief appearance. Light bodied. Capital has a big line up of excellent beer, I would try one of the other ones if you only had one or two to try. But I’d take this over a Yuengling.

Orange-tinted gold; virtually no head, just a mm-wide rim. Shoe polish, sweet cookie malt, nutty, some oxydation, honey. Nutty, again oxydized flavour, ending metallic bitterish after mainly sweet main taste, faint fruity. Weird fruit, as wild prunes or pimpernel... Very empty palate, slightly slick. Interesting from an historical point of view. Less from the beerlovers’ point.

2005 bottle from Robertsreality, thanks! Pours an lightly filtered, yellow/rosy-orange hue, with an initial bubbly white head that is fleeting and does not lace. Aroma of soft, sweet grass, bits of herbs, light vanilla and honey. Hints of toasted grain as well. Flavor begins with plenty of pils malt, soft, honeyish and quite flavorful. Some notes of lightly crisp lager yeast, a bit of lemons and oranges and a smooth, honeyish finish. Not complex, nor is it terribly hoppy for a pils, but the malting is well-done, I thought, and though it does get quite watery, I find no off-flavors. The corn flavor by-products of the pils malt are present, as some note, but it is not anything out of style, IMO. Light body, very drinkable. Low carbonation for the style. I bet this stuff would be killer fresh on draught.

If there’s one thing this brewery does, besides doing lots of great lagers, its nailing particular lager styles dead on. Its true of their fest and bocks, their helles, and very much true with this pre-proh style lager. Too bad its not the nicest of styles in the world. Sweetish palate, a twangy finish possibly from corn syrup. Light hop character hints at the same kind of spiciness I get from their pilsner and helles. Meh.

Pours is a cloudy yellow with a small head. Aroma is light, you can almost smell some hops there. Flavor is bland and flat. Clean and easy drinking is the best thing I can saw about this one.

Yellow, huge white head. Mild aroma of hops. Not much taste, but some sweet malt and corn is there. Very smooth, but this is in exchange for flavor and body. An ok beer, but lots of better options from Capital.

Pours cloudy yellow-orange (tiny particulates visible) with a thin off-white head. Has a grassy, slightly spicy hops aroma. Rather zesty flavor of grassy, floral hops and just a touch of fruity malt. Thin-bodied but nicely carbonated. Average.

As pale American lagers go, this is better than most. No off-tastes, a fine yellow color with just a slight haze. Noticeable malt presence is balanced by a just-detectable fruity hop presence.

Pretty ordinary Pils. Part of a Capital sampler pack so I am trying to work my way up the chain. Shouldn't be too hard to beat this one. Slight hops aroma, mildly smooth refreshing flavor but pretty bland overall.
