very dark looking IPA, looks like an irish red, or a very dark amber. Nice beige head. Aroma is some nice hops, not smelling much goldings though. Some good malt, and and biscuit aroma, and a touch of cherry? Flavour is Bitter, and hoppy, there is a touch of the bitter goldings in the flavour, but all in all, not as hop forward as i would expect in an IPA, but it’s nicely balanced, and a good beer.

Bouteille 341ml.

Originally rated July 2006. Bought at La Trappe À Fromage in Gatineau, Quebec. It pours a slightly hazy amber-orange-red colour with a big creamy tanned head. Retention is real good, carbonation is average and lace is chunky. The nose is full of caramel malt, molasse, nuts and golding hop. Creamy and mild tart mouthfeel. Good clean bitterness in the beginning, but then calms down quite a bit in the finish. Not much lingers. Pretty decent, but I still prefer their Cascade version (which is the same beer, but with cascade hop instead of golding).

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a brown body and a tan, fading head. Aroma of hops and brown sugar. Taste is hops, and quite bland at that. Light bubbles.

(Bottle 34,1 cl) Hazy, amber golden with a dense, off-white head. Aroma of caramel and aroma hops. Medium body with lightly burned malt notes and a rather raw bitterness. Quite a brutal IPA. Courtesy of Siroy. 120207

Bottle: Poured a deep amber color ale with a huge foamy head with excellent retention. Aroma of floral hops with some significant bitterness but less aggressive then the Bièropholie Casdcade. Taste has nice mix between floral hops, mildly sweet caramel malt and dominant bitterness at the end. Overall, less heavy then the Cascade and I think it has the edge.

A hazy amber beer with an orange head. The aroma is plainly hoppy, while the flavor is sweet with notes of caramel and some dust, leading to a dry slightly acidic end.

2005 bottle from Depanneur Peluso. Beautiful deep amber-orange, light brown shades and a faded copper-gold tinge on the edges. Large yellow head is fairly well-retained and fades to a ring. Smells of caramel, lightly floral hops, rich toffee, yet some sweet, dried hay, rich warmed honey. Very hard to pinpoint everything in the aroma, for me. Flavor begins with more floral notes, hints of spicy perfume-like notes, with toffee right away, flowers, soft, yet noticeable bitterness. Flowery, lightly bitter finish, bits of caramel. Short and dry, mostly. Medium body. Soft carbonation, bit watery, though not in a bad way.

Hazy red-amber to auburn; dense, very creamy, collapsing yellow-amber head. Cookies, gingerbread, tobacco and bittering hops, greenery-filled cake. Outspoken hops taste, with tons of cakey-like malts behing. Very resiny hopstaste. American hops would give cleaner, more citrussy flavours; this is more earthy and especially resiny. Tobacco too, again. Adstringent without bitterness being overpowering, but very long-lasting. Fiery MF, very well-bodied. Nice, cake-like. The humulus lupulus equivalent of space-cake? Merci Lubière!

Bottled. Hazy copper colour, creamy head. Hay aroma. Sweet notes of caramel and clean crystal malt character. Intensely hoppy - very flowery. Clean crystal malt character. A hint of licorice in a very bitter finish.
