750mL bottled 05/15/2003, drunk 8/26/22. Clear, raspberry-tan-amber. Large, off-white head is quick to recede. Lots of caramel and other specialty malts with little/no oxidation (or at least none of the traditional). Raisin, prune, other various fruits but no clear personality to the yeast. Just very, very fruity. No alcohol or flaw noted. In the mouth it's lots of caramel again with dark fruits and low oxidation. Not much acidity or expected phenolic activity. Wouldn't think that would be due to aging, but who knows. Otherwise, it's clean and malty with no alcohol or flaw noted.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of boboski. Hazy, amber golden with an off-white head. Oxidized aroma with fruit and caramel. Rich in body with sweetish fruit, caramel and some overripe notes. Oxidized, woody accents, some sweet Sherry and a whiff of yeast. Very subdued bitterness. Lovely - this has aged with grace. 190408

Bottled. An orange-amber beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma is sweet malty with just a touch of oxidation hitting the nose right at first, but then comes more powerful notes of alcohol. The flavor is sweet mlaty with strong notes of alcohol, medium notes of over ripe fruits, as well as light notes of citrusy fruits and oxidation, leading to a dry bitter finish.

Murky amber with tiny white head. Sweet and somewhat oxydized aroma with vinous, ripe fruit and caramel notes. Sweet flavor with woody, caramel, ripe fruits and hoppy notes. Rather vinious.

Blind tasting at Papsoes place, another great session, thanks Henrik! Beer #13: Pours orange with a fully diminished off white head. Wineous and woody aroma, light salmiac note. Flavour is sweet, light yeasty and mild spiced. Light sweet and light yeasty finish. This actually works great flavourwise but not in the aroma.

2003. This has aged well and there was so much sugar it could probably go a lot longer. Aroma is sweet with malt and fruit, but I can’t distinguish any particular fruit. Very sweet flavor, malt and sugar, sweet citrus but no sourness. Also yeast in the flavor.

I wish this was not a retired beer. I would really like to have one again. +++Sampled from a 750 ml bottle this beer poured an opaque orange-gold color with a large orange head. There was a very sweet aroma of fruit and hops. The flavor was sweet, malty, fruity and had a strong hop presence. The hops really come through on the aftertaste, especially as the beer warms up. There was a noticeable alcohol burn, but not overwhelming for a beer with 9%. Very nice.

Orangey colour, with small floaties. Aroma of peach, orange, light chocolate malt. Well-constructed malt profile – toast, a little caramel, some background alcohol. Straightforward, but so cleanly put together you can’t help but be impressed by its simple beauty.

Orange-amber, slight haze; irregular, ambercoloured good head, slowly shrinking to nothingness. Fruity nose, like preserved and dried apricot, alcoholic. Starting with a typical USA piney hops onslaught, underbuild by quite good light-coloured malts. Quite some sweetness. Chestnut-flour taste, slight oxidation it seems. Beer ends rather sweet, but every new gulp gives a fresh dose of good hops, until warming up too much. Full-bodied. Oily, slick mouthfeel. Alcohol obvious without burn. Aftertaste becomes distinctly grapey. Truth to tell, the nose isn't very much. The rest is all the better. This is actually a very refined beer, vying with the best. Certainly not Westcoast - brutal. But Belgian???

Yeasty, fruity aroma - copper color - some alcohol in the aroma, too - the flavor is subdued but fairly complex - sweet up front, with slight caramel and fruit flavors - surprising amount of hops - some spice - bitter and sweet balance well at the end, but the finish is a bit thin - this is like Hop Devil as a belgian.
