Bottle, 0.375l. Aroma of red wine, wood, dark fruit and yeast. Pours cloudy dark brown color with thin quickly diminishing tan-like head, tiny yeast particles floating and average sparkling appearance. Taste starts tart vinous and fruity with toasted malty backbone, following is woody, grassy, a bit funky and slightly metallic with astringent mouthfeel. Medium to full body, slick texture and soft carbonation in palate. Pungent acidic ale…

bottle batch 004 10.3.16 so either march 10, 2016, or oct 3 2016 no best before date so tasting and rating it now, late march 2024 must be fine. pours a nice clear brown, with a slighly offwhite white head. aroma is ever so slightly buttery but mostly reminds me of an old dungeon port wine cellar, very pleasant, sweet dried fruity notes as well as some booze, which is impressive with only 4.6%, should I guess from the aroma alone I would guess quad at 9%. good job. Seems to have kept excellently all those years. It was also perfect on the open, good craftmanship. Flavor is extraordinarily sour with some sweet buttery and caramelly notes as well as some glue and some dark chocolate. far from where the aroma hinted, but a decent sour, although with several rather unorthodox flavor notes that might not have been intended from the start. apart from the butter there is also a bit of a rubbery note to the beer. Most of it is just dastardly sour (us-sour style) and all the extra flavor notes that do manage to keep it very interesting. I don't think it should be stored much longer than this, though.
