Bottle, courtesy of Manu, thanks! Pours dark brown with big stable head. Aroma is grassy and citric hops, a bit artificial, still roasted notes. Body is medium, hoppy but dusty and green peppers appear over coffee and other roast notes. Decent body and bitterness, but it can't cover the weaknesses. Okay.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a dark brown with an orange hue and a beige head. Nose has subtle spice and a little citrus, but a lactic infection dominates. Medium body, fruity, subtle roast but again, the lactic acid dominates. Probably could've been semi decent without the infection. 240417

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Roasty, chocolately dark malty and citrusy fruity, minimally grassy-herbal hoppy aroma, notes of dark chocolate, hints of coffee, zesty notes of orange, grapefruit and lemon, a touch of mango and blueberry, hints of spring onion. Taste is bitter, roasty dark malty, minimally smoky, ashy and chocolately, fruity hoppy overtones with hints of blueberry and mango, a piney touch, cautious hints of burnt caramel in the finish; smooth, creamy palate. Unobtrusive, very pleasant, pretty wicked.

Tower 42 bottleshare on me biffday! Almost clear brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is airy, semi dry and has decent fine carbonation. Soft dark malts, touches of malt cream and dark chocolate. Mosaic like hop fruits, mild blueberry and tropical fruits. Modest pine. A light finish leaves a bitter linger. Smooth and very drinkable CDA.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 21 - Black/Rye IPA). Batch L11122017 (BBF 09.2018). AROMA: medium-low to low roasted malt aroma (chocolate/caramel like), with a spicy rye presence. medium forward hop aroma with a citrus fruit character. APPEARANCE: dark brown color with ruby body against light. clear. large light brown head with average retention. TASTE: balanced medium-low hop flavor with a floral and slight citrus fruit character and medium roasted malt background with a chocolate-like impression (tilted towards malt). medium to medium-high bitterness with a semi-dry, bitter and roasty finish. PALATE: medium body with a velvety texture. pulverulent texture from rye not very much perceived. medium-high carbonation. OVERALL: a black IPA with good notes and balanced, with a slight tilt towards roasted malt.
