BATCH 15 (blended on 24 October 2013) was distributed as follows:

Type vaten in BATCH
Oloroso 85%
New Wood Medium Toast 15%
This Quadrupel, batch no. 15, was lagered for a prolonged period of time (2 years) in barriques of Oloroso. Oloroso is a household definition in the world of wine, thanks to its specific qualities. In addition, we can recognise vanilla, almond, honey blossom and caramel. The aroma of this Oak is therefore highly complex.

It has a rich, mature and strong flavour. Still, it is soft and creamy, and this batch may well be the softest produced so far. The taste buds will be hit not just by the ‘walnut-like’ oloroso. As the wine is slightly acidic, the alcohol feels warm. The oak barriques have slightly tempered the bitterness of the Quadrupel and have maintained the influences of the oloroso. This Oak is less carbonated, but does produce enough sparkle and, in addition to that rich flavour, gives a fuller sensation.

Fles gedronken tijdens proeverijtje met Tomhendriksen, Benzai, Roelzie en Keukeman. Robijnrood, licht troebel bier met matig schuim. Heel licht aroma van vanille. Smaak is nootachtig met een hint van sherry. Nasmaak is licht pittig.

Obviously aged sample Some transparent bubbles over deep red(brown) beer, clear. Aged nose in the best of ways, nuts, nutcake, sherry, dry (?) madeira, cognac/armagnac. Sweet taste, alcoholic, nutty, nutcake, old wine, madeira. A bit empty by the age, but oxydation is really limited to the biscuit/madeirisation. Body is gone, rest is great, one of the better ones.

375 cl corked bottle from Labirratorium (Madrid) served in large snifter. Plastic cork was impossible to take out, to begin with. Horrible. A hazy dark greenish brown pour with a lot of sediment and zero head, that yields terrible oxydizying red apple seed scents to begin with... but let it rest. After like 10'' you forget about those and get leather, smoke, clove, cedarwood, sandalwood, black pepper, treacle... Nice. Mouthfeel is great. No carbonation at all, let me say that first, so if you like your fizzies go somewhere else. Slick, mouth-covering, nice acidity and umami, great metal, formidable bitterness (under control, though.) In the aftertaste you do get some bittersweet tinges and a lot of pipe tobacco and timberwood. Boy do I like it and regret not having stored it properly myself like I did with batch #16.

Draft. An unclear amber beer with a lazing yellowish head. The aroma has notes of malt, over ripe fruits, and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw, alcohol, over ripe fruits, and straw, leading to a bitter finish.

Bought in Bierpakhuis Albergen. Corked bottle. Dark amber color. Malt, marzipan and cream sherry in the aroma. Malty sweet, alcoholic flavor with dominating sherry, bubblegum and dried fruit. Quite alcoholic, but the complexity is there.

Danke an Erzengel. Süß holziger Antrunk bei geringerer Karbonisierung. Alkohol, Karamell, etwas Vanille. Die Alkoholnoten sind dabei störend stark, das Bier nicht rund genug. Naja... 8/9/8/8/9/9
