2008 version courtesy of CaptainCougar, thanks! Murky amber color, almost flat. Aroma of sweet lightly toasted caramel. Taste is sweet caramel and butterscotch.

Poured from a 500mL bottle. Cloudy dark brown in colour with virtually no head. Aroma of pepper, caramel, fig, plum, and molasses. Tastes quite boozy with stone fruit sweetness.

Crazy wax-dipped 500ml jar. Very unusual. Pours a mostly clear ruby color with a medium white head. A sweet candy nose with dusty caramel. A very sweet and dusty flavor: some caramel, candied fruit, cherries, dry finish. Light warmth. Pretty nice, one-sided affair though.

2008 bottle at TimE’s. Big fruity nose, still has hops, caramel, vanilla. Light brown-orange with no head. Flavors of vanilla, prickly hop, nice fruit: peach, melon. Very wwell aged. Smooth and very nice.

sweet, lots of burnt raisins, brown sugar and apricots. Hops are still kicking butt three years later. Decent bitter finish.

2011 bottle, 11.5% alcohol volume. Poured & sampled at 11.7 celsius. Very small head, bright brown body with visible and moderate carbonation. Very soft sugar aroma, light barley hints. Flavour is a lot of malt and sweetness, cloying mouthfeel. Generic barley wine, hard to pick out of a crowd.

2010 Bottle. Pours a hazy orangey amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of toffee, dark fruits and candied sugar. Flavour of sweet caramel malts, maple, candied sugar and some citrus hops. Medium complexity with prominent (but not cloying) sweetness. 7 4 8 4 15 (3.8 / 5) 2009 Bottle. Compared to 2010, doesn't give as much maple flavour, overall complexity is lowered and flavour profile slightly more muted. 7 4 7 3 15 (3.6 / 5) 2005 Bottle. Past its prime, with muted flavours and only some of the complexities remaining. Still decent. 6 4 6 3 13 (3.2 / 5) 2010 is definitely the best, though my rating is the half-way point between '09 and '10.

2005 edition, bought for Christmas 2006 and came in a scotch tube, with a low-ball Mill Street glass. The beer itself is in a stubby bottle and is numbered. I got No. 6000... pretty cool. Pours a dark caramel-brown colour with and off-white head that is not too big, but present and leaves decent lacing. A nice coating tops the brew, with bubbles and stay there in all creaminess. Lots of tiny-bubbled carbonation are slowly moving upwards. The aroma is a mix of butterscotch and dark fruits, like raisins. Syrupy mouthfeel with a strong alcohol finish. No burn though. This one is hazy with very tiny sediments that are all over, just like very fine spices. The caramel malt is in the flavour, with some nicely mixed hops. Lighter fruits like apples and pear appear in the late aftertaste. Overall, pretty good, but was expecting a bit more from this great brewery.

2009 ceramic bottle thanks to blutt59. Batch 09-669-673. Pours with a hazy golden orange body with no head. Aroma of caramel, alcohol and some apple. Taste is sweet, boozy, alcohol, with a bitter finish. Syrupy with very light bubbles. Not my favorite barley wine, not too much character or depth.
