Similar to a West Coast IPA. Floral nose with notes of citrus and pine. Medium bodied with a nice punch of hops and a solid malt finish. Crankshaft won a silver medal at the 2017 International Brewing Awards. A great beer for lovers of big full flavoured brews - it cranks! Crankshaft was the highest ranked IPA in the GABS Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers Poll for 2018, for the second year in a row.

Australia Day beer # 7. 375ml can into schooner glass. Big ’bean-can’ flip-top. Golden copper beer with high fine carbonation and a solid white head. Nose is chalky, earthy hops with some fruit in the background. Full-bodied with a little sparkle. Finish is weak fruit cordial with cashew nuts and dried fruit. It’s good. Real good.

From a 375ml can on 29/11/2016 (ABV listed as 5.8%). Pours a clear dark golden with a medium head. Has a pleasant tropical/stone fruit aroma. Taste wise you get a bit of bread and biscuit malt, followed by lots more sweet tropical and stone fruit (mango, peach, passionfruit. The hops are relatively mild. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Not bad but no world beater.

On tap at Wig & Pen, pours a hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out tropical fruits and dank piney and resinous hops. Flavour is along the same lines, with dank hops, tropical fruits, light caramel and bready malt. Balanced well, with lots of depth. Really good.

On tap at the brewery in the ACT. Hazy amber, earthy chewy cascadey nose, palate is brighter than the nose lets on.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours clear orange. Intense hoppy nose, almost like a bag of candy. Strong hops taste as well, but with a matching solid backbone. Lots of flavours coming up, complex, but a bit all over the place as well.
