Hazy tan. The aroma is earthy, with dusty yeast character. Sweeter pale malts, light yeast, touch of herbal hop. Some alcohol in the finish.

375ml bottle at Matt’s. Pours a hazy blonde with a white head. Aroma and taste are hoppy, flowery, sweety. Hoppy bitterness aftertatse. Good beer.

Tasting at Matt’s, batch LS230053, bb Sept 2016
Hazy golden color. Nice delicate aroma, like the regular Saison some pungent honey, but less spices, and more floral. It’s too much carbonated, a detriment to the flavor; spicy yeast, a bit sweeter than the Saison, and with a bit more vegetables.
A lot of character, a bit chaotic, but nice.

375mL bottle, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out sweet cereal malts, rustic farmhouse notes, and residual sweetness. Flavour is much more abrasive and messy than the regular Saison, with phenolic alcohol notes, cereal sweetness and rustic farmhouse. Filthy and all over the place, but still quite pleasant. Much preferred the regular Saison.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Huge banana nose with clove, lots of yeasty esters, pepper and some light lemon. Creamy mouthfeel but with active carbonation. Great head retention throughout. Sweet, but not overly so and the carbonation really refreshes. Good lemony tartness, almost like a key lime pie in a way. Nice dry, peppery finish that runs off the palate quickly. Great actually. Like a weizen / saison hybrid.

Bottle at The Local Taphouse. Pours yellow with a big head. The nose shouts Geuze at you, but this is a Saison...? I’m confused and surprised. Once most of the foam is gone, saison aromas appear. Still geuzy though. Then you taste it and it clearly is a saison: Crispy, citric fruity, a bit sour, tart. Punchy and sweet malty body for a saison though, almost like a DIPA. A very interesting and well-crafted beer!

Bottle. Gold with a modest white head. Carbonation is quite high. Aroma is grainy with oranges, apricots, earthy funk, dough. Sweet with with boiled oranges, some sour oranges, apricots, dough, spices. A bit boozy. Dry and quite bitter finish with cloves and vanilla as well as oranges. Liked this a bit less than the ordinary saison. I guess at this strength the flavour balance doesn’t work quite so well for me - I want either an easy-going rustic sweet/tart/bitter thing or a cleaner powerful pale malt base with supporting nuances. Still, pretty good.
