Pours a deep brown, almost black, with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, chocolate, dark fruits, grassy hops. Flavour is roasty and hoppy with a nice bitter finish. Very aromatic and easily drinkable, this is a fine example of the style.

23 June 2021. At Slot Oostende, Goes. Shared with the lovely Anke! Hazy black, small, foamy, tan head. Aroma of sweetened fondant, dried orange peel, plum, raisin, almond, biscuit. Taste has sweet raisin & plum over a chocolatey malty base, bit nutty & toasty. Earthy hoppy finish, decent grapefruit and citrus peel accents, dried dark fruits and warming gin-like alcohol. Medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation. Balanced brew; gladly have it again.

Bottle from Citysuper at home. Wasn’t sure if this is a black IPA but I guess it’s being billed at one. Cola brown pour with fine cream white head. Aroma is interesting mix of cola and dank very grassy hops. Good! Taste is deep pine and very roasted coffee bitterness, strong roasted malt. Like the aroma better. Medium palate. Interesting beer. Better than the TIPA I think. Would get again - love black IPAs.

Bottle, 0.33l. Cloudy red/brown pour, two finger frothy beige head. Long lasting, good retention. Lots of lacing on the glass as it goes down. Nice on the nose, fruity character, slight roasty notes. Clean and fresh, really nice. Medium body, soft carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel, soft and chewy texture. Medium bitter taste, slightly roasty, mild fruity tart. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, citruses, pine. Bready, molases. Bitterness gets a bit stronger towards the finish. Notable alcohol presence, lingering on the tongue, dry and warming. Nicely balanced. Long lasting finish. Very good.

From bottle @ BBF 2011. Almost black and opague. Roast, caramel and ash in the aroma. Malty sweet, ashy flavor with a firm floral and grassy bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel. Well balanced.
