Backlog April 2008. Dark brown, almost black body under a big, beige head that fades quite fast. Slightly burnt aroma with liquorices, coffee and chocolate. Taste is sweet, dark malt, chocolate, hint of vanilla and moderate bitterness. Fine body and average aftertaste. Nothing extraordinary in taste, but sure a decent one.

Dark brown coloured body with a very thin tan head that fades super fast. Aroma of alcohol, grapes, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and a hint of spice. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong grape, raisin, pear and light chocolate flavours with a very mild sour note, some yeast flavours and a hint of caramel. Aftertaste shows some light earthy malt with a hint of metal, a lot of grape and raisin flavours and a little chocolate note at the end. Overall, a good sweet stout, on the thin side, but a nice flavoured and relatively light beer. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 25-April-2013 for US$2.38 sampled at home in Washington on 20-June-2013.

Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Black, not opaque. Aroma of dark chocolate and some roastiness. Bittersweet roasty flavor with some dark chocolate and a drier finish, a bit coffee-ish. Medium-bodied.

Tap. Pours opaque black with a large creamy brown head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is coffee and chocolate with notes of vanilla. Flavor its the same, medium sweet, subdued and well balanced. Creamy in the mouth.

Bottle Black with a skin of a tan head. Dark roasted aroma with lots of tootsie roll, chocolate, cinnamon. Sweet roasted flavor and a thin body. More like a dark porter. Lingering slightly sour bitter bite.

Baie Lekker! Bottle. Pours black with medium beige fast dissipating head. Moderate lacing. Cocoa and oatmeal aroma, with a tinge of coffee. Full but mild flavour, more cocoa and oatmeal. Sweet finish, but not cloying, there is enough bitterness.

12oz bottle. Opaque blackness, rusty orange-tan head that fades away into soapy patches after a few sips. Sweet chocolate aroma with a touch of pungency to it. Sweet and malty with a watery smooth finish, this is an awesome, sessionable example of a Sweet/Caribbean Stout, not really so much capturing the Oatmeal. Creamy and smooth, with lots of chocolate malt flavor.
