Beyond Good and Evil is one of Nietzsche’s most powerful works, challenging convention, ‘wisdom’ and ‘morality;’ urging us to transcend the restrictive, bounded concepts of good and evil; and confronting the relative nature of ‘knowledge.’ This both informs and inspires our work. Beyond Good and Evil is also the name of our bourbon barrel-aged maple imperial stout. Brewed in December of 2016, we crafted this beer with malted wheat and Vermont maple syrup. It then rested contentedly in hand-selected bourbon barrels from one of our favorite distilleries for nearly two years.

Oh... hey, 12,000 rates. Look at that. 50cl bottle pours an oily, opaque black with some wispy white head and plenty of legs.  Nose has a lot, raisin and ancho, date, chocolate and nougat, some booze, some char, toasted marshmallow, some baking spice.  Flavor has chocolate syrup and high end whiskey, some char, earthy notes like mushrooms and caramelized root veg, some malt and malt soda, rootbeer, 3 Musketeers bars.  Finishes oily, luscious and full bodied.  Finish is the best part.  8 4 8 5 15

Mmmmore HF! Another brilliantly balanced stout monster, but a more desserty one. A nice big scoop of maple, some subtle roast, very woft mouthfeel, and to finish it off a nice layer of soft, warming bourbon. Slightly boozy, in a pleasant way.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma of intense notes of chocolate mix in with some maple syrup and bourbon with vanilla notes also noticeable. Taste is also a mix of sweet chocolate notes, maple syrup with some woody notes, bourbon and vanilla notes also perceptible. Body is full with nice creamy texture and good carbonation with some light warming alcohol notes. World-class imperial stout from a great brewery.

Tap @ Warpigs. Pours black with a small brown fizzy head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malts, fudge, vanilla, maple, lots of oak. Taste is sweet, bitter maple, oaky, vanilla, fudge, chocolate. Fuck me this is good! I should’ve gotten way more of this.
