This is our take on a double IPA. Although some would consider it somewhat ‘Belgian’ in its malt and yeast profile, we definitely crammed in all the juicy, fruity and fresh hops that any hophead could possibly wish for.

With Elliot, we tried to create a refreshing beer that’s dangerously drinkable while still maintaining that unxious mouthfeel that Struise is so renowned for. Being able to either quaffed or sipped, this is one of our most versatile multi-purpose beers.

Enormous head on this hazy, melted caramel colored beer. Pleasant floral and citrus hops over a sweet, candied malt foundation with some yeast, as well. Syrupy body. Lemon, citrus, some floral notes in the flavor. The alcohol is very pronounced. Some yeast comes through in the end, as well. Enjoyable IIPA with fun belgian twist.

Bottle: Cloudy rust color with a medium beige head. Sticky lacing. Smells fruity and ciderlike, apple and citrus. Taste is fruity, yeast, and hints of spice. Again, ciderlike and yeast make it more of a Belgian that is paranoid of that green leafy hop. Thanks to BuckeyeBoy for this one.

Hazzy orange amber. Carmel and sweet malts not quit eclipsed bu the claimed 130 IBUs. Tast and different for an IPA.

330 ml. bottle. Aromas of lightly roasted malt, light stone fruit, and floral hop. Hazy orange amber color with a two finger whitish head. Near full body with very creamy carbonation. Flavor is roasted malt, fruit like apricot, and enough bitter to take off the top of the head. It comes on slow, but it’s really bitter. The IBU test is what dilution it takes to - no, that’s the test for cayenne heat. See http://beeradvocate.com/forum/read/1412666 for an IBU discussion. Anyway, I perceive a lot of bitter in this thing. The tongue knows! It is a really good sipping drink.

Huge, creamy, off-white head covering a cloudy amber-brown body. Amazingly good lacing and retention. Aroma is dry, spicey, and citrus hops, with nice caramel malts. Very nice and clean taste, plenty of citrus (nearly lime) hops. Malt and alcohol balance the hop bitterness perfectly. Strong alcohol warming. Creamy smooth mouthfeel and light bubbles.

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear warm amber golden with a nice, dense and frothy off-white head. A somewhat raw aroma hoppiness with a whiff of caramel. Solid malt based body with hints of yeast and spices an a somewhat brutal bitter finish without any greater refinement. 030608

Courtesy of OSLO, thanks buddy. Pours hazy deep gold to copper with off white head. Mild complex aramo of spicy hops, sweet berry and cherries mixing with sweet orange juice. Nice interpretation of this US west coast style beer. The taste starts tart with grapefruit attacking at once. It gets a little pine like and even grassy for a moment or two before mild sweet malts enter but don’t interfere with the hoppy onslaught. Seems a bit thin for the style. Nice tasting brew bringing up similarities to orange juice along with tartness in the finish.

Cloudy brown. Loads of hops in the aroma. Flavor is similar to many high end ipas with sweet caramel malt and hops, but interestingly here, it is almost like sweet hops and bitter at the same time. Thick, sticky palate. Very good.

Sampled with Gunhaver. Hoppy, good carbonation, Double IPA, sugary. Reminescent of typical Belgian yeast. Presence of caramel..
