This stout is simply not suitable for vegetarians. It contains oysters. Now, you won’t find one at the bottom of the glass, but you may get a touch of sweet minerality in the flavour that comes from the freshly shucked lads that get put in during brewing. Not a bad way to go, even for a bivalve.Delicate and toasty, it also has slightly bitter, fragrant twist, thanks to East Kent Goldings.

330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.2%. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Pleasant aroma of hops and moderately roasted malts, hints of seaside (the oysters? - or is it just my imagination?). Silky smooth and very pleasant flavour, mild roasty notes, well balanced hops. Truly enjoyable, impossible to dislike.

On tap at vintage estate. Dark, very stoutlike in its presentation with a big creamy head. No real aroma, just clean and clear. Initial impressions are friendly stoutish or porter flavors. No co2 for the tongue in this stuff, must be on nitro from the look of it. Very nice lacing. No real negatives can be detected. This is nuch better than I was expecting. Seems like a typical flat english nitro stout. Same on the finish.

I got a four pack @ Carl’s Meat Market, Kittery, ME. $11.99. The aroma had a coffee, a touch of licorice, and some dark caramel. Taste is chocolate, caramel, earthy and a bit salty. I wouldn’t turn it down if somebody offered me one, but $11.99 for four bottles, I’ll never buy it again.

Too dry for my taste but solidly done. +++Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy beige head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was dry, roasty, woody and had a campfire element. The flavor was dry, nutty, woody and had light notes of smoke and roasty malts with a faint earthy and herbal undertone. The finish was long and woody. Moderately full and nicely smooth body. Decent.

On tap. Poured black with a light grayish brown thick creamy head that laces beautifully and lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a good amount of roasted malt with some earthy notes as well as dark grains. Flavor has a smooth roastiness with a bit of cream and a backing earthy dark grain note.
