Ein einzigartiges Pils, das es so wohl kein zweites Mal gibt. Gebraut mit einem Sud aus exotischem schwarzen und rosa Pfeffer ist dieses Gewürzbier ein Schmankerl für Freunde außergewöhnlicher Biere. Fruchtige Noten von Mango, Grapefruit und Bergamotte treffen auf eine angenehme Schärfe durch den würzigen Pfeffer. Das Pepper Pils ist das Ergebnis einer Kooperation mit den Craft Beer Brauern von Himburgs Braukunstkeller, die für ihre ausgefallenen Ideen bekannt sind.

Bottle at home. Slight hazy light amber with big but short lasting light beige head. Flowery, aromatic peppery notes but different from black or white pepper, a bit soap, light malts, grapes, lime. Light sweet and bitter. Under medium bodied with crisp feel. Decent but the pepper could be a little more toned down.

Borefts VIII. Day 2. Bottle from somewhere! Thanks guys! Hazy gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry. Big candy fruits. Floral black pepper. Dried fruits, Light finish. Odd but it somehow works, quite drinkable.

Bottle from my European Secret Santa 2016, thank you Maracuja05! This one was an interesting take on a pilsner - poured nice golden and foamy as usual but then rose pepper kicked in and it turned out to be rather different beast. Pepper spice blended nicely with bittering hops, so this blend actually seemed to work. Nice herbal-raw peppery beer, applauds for the experimental spirit!

Bottle. Hazy orange-amber, offwhite head. Quite perfumed notes, the pepper mostly reminds me of bergamotte oil, certainly a light heat in the finish though, fun. Otherwise mellow, creamy, light peachy/tropical.

Pours hazy orange from the bottle and leaves a frothy to creamy finger thick head. The aroma is citrus and freshly cut bell pepper. Taste has a light citric bitterness and an orange zest note neatly accentuated by an overall perfect level of carbonation. Underneath it all is a light peppery spice. Finish trends herbal, but stays both refreshing and lightly spicy. I’m impressed. The pepper adds a nice twist, and the dosage feels just right. A bit more body would raise the rating, but this may still be my new favorite (if untraditional) pils. Good refresher on a warm day, with or without food.

0.33 l bottle from ’Rudat’, best before May 2017. Clear, amber with a medium large, foamy, stable, white head. Sweetish, fruity-grassy and spicy aroma of fresh grass, citrus and pepper. Sweetish, fruity-grassy, spicy taste of lots of bergamot and rose petals, hibiscus, lemon peel and fresh grass, followed by a short, slightly bitter and quite herbal-spicy finish. Almost medium-bodied, smooth and quite effervescent mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Strange stuff, I don’t really like it, too heavy on the peppers which ruin a probably very nice Pils for me.
