Developed after reflecting on youthful dalliances of yore, Panther Cub is a small porter aged in a combo of BLiS maple syrup bourbon barrels and regular bourbon barrels. This fierce cat has been aging in barrels for over two years with whole vanilla beans (just for fun). Tasty maple and vanilla notes plus surprisingly deep character make this rare special release one to look upon fondly.

Black pour with a one finger tan head. The aroma is of bourbon, roast malt, chocolate, and maple. The flavor is sweet and malty with bourbon, maple syrup, roast malt, chocolate, and vanilla. It’s full bodied and very good.

Not overly sweet, which is nice, but also a tad on the plain side. Notes of cocoa powder, vanilla, caramel, dark roast coffee, and cola, with a maple-bourbon finish and a lingering dark chocolate sweetness on the fade. Pretty good, just lacking complexity. Still, I’m glad it’s not a syrupy sugar-bomb.

Bottle from Beer Republic, webshop, Breda Netherlands. Consumed at home Thursday 6th May 2021 listening to 93 Million Miles From The Sun - Why Do We Fall Apart, we has Spaghetti with smoked bacon for tea. Nose has both maple syrup and clear barrel ageing notes, little touches of vanilla. Pitch black, shark eye black on the pour with a big creamy textured light tan head, oily looking beer. Initially a little sweet but opens up to reveal a nice soft roastiness, smooth chocolate, a light but underlying bitterness, a little creamy edge, bourbon starting to assert itself but not dominating, vanilla also shows. This is super smooth, really indulgent and I am kicking myself for only getting one now grrrrrr......

12 ounce bottle. Label says 9.2% ABV. Bottled on 1/28/21, so this is just a scant two and a half months old. Opaque black color. Frothy tan head leaves wonderful cascading lace. Inviting roasted malt aroma hints at vanilla, maple syrup and bourbon. Sweet roasted malt flavor. Maple and vanilla flavors pervade. Some warming alcohol in middle. A bit of bourbon and oak on the back end rounds this out nicely. Outstanding.

12oz bottle pours out black topped with a tan head. Nose is nice sweet chocolate roast malts coffee vanilla and maple, with some bourbon barrel notes. Taste is more of the nice sweet maple bourbon barrel vanilla and plenty roast. Well worth $3.79, I just wish other brewerys would price products at a good price like Founders!!!

Bottle from The Packie, Solid black in color with a huge frothy tan head that persists. Big vanilla nose with earthy roast behind it. Flavor is maple vanilla roast with light oxidation. Not too shabby.

Bottle thanks to Drake! Pours black with a very soft brown head; beautiful. Nose is maple, vanilla, chocolate, cream, roasted malt; outstanding. Oh my god, the flavor is near perfect: chocolate, buried sweet maple, vanilla, roasted malt, caramel, chocolate milk. Sweet, but not cloying. A little boozy. Fantastic.

Bottle from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours dark brn/blk with a large foamy darkish tan head. Aroma is mostly maple with some dark malt and chocolate notes. Vanilla too. Med plus body. It's not very dry; it is very maple; there's mixed chocolate/vanilla; wood notes; dark roast malt is almost lost in the mixed flavors. Not dry; not bitter. Extremely tasty. Very, very good.
