Developed after reflecting on youthful dalliances of yore, Panther Cub is a small porter aged in a combo of BLiS maple syrup bourbon barrels and regular bourbon barrels. This fierce cat has been aging in barrels for over two years with whole vanilla beans (just for fun). Tasty maple and vanilla notes plus surprisingly deep character make this rare special release one to look upon fondly.

Pours a dark, cola-coffee brown-black, with minimal head. Aromas are maple syrup, chocolate, coffee, bourbon, oak, vanilla. It's a pretty sweet beer and the flavors largely follow, along with a touch of baker's chocolate in the finish (a kind of chalky, bitter chocolate). Really tasty and smooth beer.

12 oz bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Sweet syrupy vanilla, maple, cocoa, and bourbon aroma. Flavor has the vanilla and cocoa, bourbon and maple, with roasty coffee and smoky notes. Quite sweet, borderline syrupy. Certainly good.

Pour is black with a large tan head. Aroma is pretty much all bourbon and vanilla. Sometimes I get vanilla from the oak but I guess here your getting a double shot of it. Flavor is more bourbon barrel and vanilla with some Hershey chocolate syrup. Some maple syrup kind of hits you after the swallow. Bourbon, vanilla and chocolate are all here what's not more to like?

12oz bottle via trade, thanks a bunch to Arturo. Bottled on 11.26.2018.

Bottle shared at Lucky Bamboo share. Pours a deep brown with a small beige head that lingers then dissipates. Maple and vanilla on the nose with fudge and cocoa powder. More milk chocolate and maple on the palate. Smooth and velvety texture. Lingering coffee, maple and vanilla. Very sweet. --- Beer merged from original tick of Panther Cub on 09 Mar 2019 at 01:37 - Score: 7

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 11/26/2018. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger dense tan head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup, toffee, vanilla, cream, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, roasted nuts, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of molasses, dark fruit, smoke, herbal, and yeast/roast/oaky earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, vanilla, maple/bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup, toffee, vanilla, cream, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, roasted nuts, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of molasses, dark fruit, smoke, herbal, and yeast/roast/oaky earthiness. Mild herbal/roasted bitterness; and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup, toffee, vanilla, cream, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, roasted nuts, dark/brown bread, light molasses/dark fruit, smoke, herbal, and yeast/roast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, vanilla, maple/bourbon barrel flavors; with a solid roast/hop bitter/sweet and bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with no cloying/acrid flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/roast bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel that is amazing. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.7%, zero barrel booze. Overall this is an amazing barrel aged vanilla imperial porter! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, vanilla, maple/bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the ABV, with the mildly bitter/tannic/drying finish. Amazingly soft feel. Amazing balanced rich malts, vanilla beans, and maple/bourbon barrel presence/integration. A highly enjoyable offering, and top tier style example as expected. Tastes like a light version of CBS all the way. Nearly identical with a lighter body, less warmth/barrel booze.
