There is a difference between absolute bitterness and perceived bitterness. IBUs are useful for homebrewers for the purpose of clone recipes, but it doesn’t always tell the whole story. Expedition Stout is a good example. It has more IBUs than more traditional hoppy beers like Two Hearted and Hopslam.

Hey, I thought I rated this already, you know, just another ubiquitous IPA? Volatile mild hop whiff. Foamy head, hazy of course. Full body with strong hop bitter ballish bite. Yes, another ubiquitous IPA, what else can be said? What? You want more robust, malty, and alcoholic with a characteristically intense hop profile in both taste and aroma? Whoop, here it is.

Pours lightly hazy gold with a one finger off white head flavor. It has medium to high hop bitterness, high for a hazy ipa. There’s some citrus and resin. Malt is a bit underwhelming and there’s maybe a little caramel. Long hop finish.

I stumbled across a can of this at the local craft beer store earlier this week. I am not big on hazy IPAs but it is Bell's, worth the try. Chilled in the beer cooler and poured into my IPA tasting glass. I see a very light, pale, hard-to-even-call-it-yellow body and an impressive, long lasting pure white head. The nose is lemon, orange and pine. I take a drink, a bit of cedar, orange and tangerine, sort of a wheat influence I think. Subdued. Okay. I do appreciate the lacing.

Keg at eureka Las Vegas. A hazed golden yellow coloured pour with a lasting white head. Aroma is nice loose wheat, mellow dank, citrus, and mellow tropical flavour is composed of some creamy wheat, peach, citrus hop, spicy citrus edge, little dank, Palate is semi sweet, rounded moderate carbonation. Good all rounded.

Can. Pale gold, moderately hazy. An inch of white head. Aroma of grapefruit, vague/ tired cracker, some herbal notes, alka seltzer. 7- There is more to the hops with peach and some tropical bubblegum but the malt is smudged and dull. Lowish bitterness in a chalky finish. A tentative approach to this (accursed) style misses the worst but also the best of it.

Some haze but this looks thinner than many of the style. Hops, some citrus and soft palate but not as full flavored as the best examples. Probably closer to a brut.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a hazy vibrant yellow color with a medium sized foamy yellow-white head that left good lacing. The aroma was tangy, citric and a touch musty. The flavor was tangy with lemon, grapefruit, pepper, mild bitterness, faint pine and cactus. Long finish. Medium body.

12 oz can purchased at Harry’s Liquors in Leawood, Kansas. 6/14/19 DATE ON CAN. The pour is hazed yellow golden with a firm one inch white head. Nice lace. The aroma is bright pineapple citrus, floral, hint of resin. The taste is the juicy pineapple fruit, bright citrus, and a nice body of wheat grain and cracker malt. The palate is medium-bodied, soft unfiltered mouth feel, and fruit sweetness and wheat in the finish. Nicely executed Hazy IPA.

Pours a slightly hazy, lemon-yellow, with good-sized, lasting, fluffy white head. Aroma is grassy, with some citrus and tropical fruit. Flavor is citrus and tropical fruit, grass, some bread, a slight sweetness. Mouthfeel is very light. Just a slight touch of bitterness to the finish.
