There is a difference between absolute bitterness and perceived bitterness. IBUs are useful for homebrewers for the purpose of clone recipes, but it doesn’t always tell the whole story. Expedition Stout is a good example. It has more IBUs than more traditional hoppy beers like Two Hearted and Hopslam.

12 oz can purchased at Harry’s Liquors in Leawood, Kansas. 6/14/19 DATE ON CAN. The pour is hazed yellow golden with a firm one inch white head. Nice lace. The aroma is bright pineapple citrus, floral, hint of resin. The taste is the juicy pineapple fruit, bright citrus, and a nice body of wheat grain and cracker malt. The palate is medium-bodied, soft unfiltered mouth feel, and fruit sweetness and wheat in the finish. Nicely executed Hazy IPA.

Pours a slightly hazy, lemon-yellow, with good-sized, lasting, fluffy white head. Aroma is grassy, with some citrus and tropical fruit. Flavor is citrus and tropical fruit, grass, some bread, a slight sweetness. Mouthfeel is very light. Just a slight touch of bitterness to the finish.

Single can from Jewel/Osco. Pours a big puffy head over a cloudy, straw colored body. Hops on the nose are pretty mild, more like a brut IPA. A slight touch of lemongrass. Taste has a bit of hop bitterness and stone fruit. If I can think of anything to compare it with, maybe the Goose Island Dry-Hopped 312. A nice hoppy mouthfeel, with a bit of wheat malt making it feel smoother. A pleasant beer sensation with no surprises, yet pretty enjoyable. Carbonation is a little bit high, suggesting it should be enjoyed slowly.

Canned April 24th 2019.

It pours a hazy lemon yellow, an inch of foam I am looking at, some lacing but it is not that sticky.

Grapefruit, pineapple, more tropical fruits nose. Smells hoppy but not bitter.

Well incorporated flavours I mentioned in the smell. Tropical fruity overall I would say. Breaking it down, mango, grapefruit, pineapple, somewhat more bitter than the smell suggested. The hops are really hiding any malt to my palate.

Very good mouthfeel.

Another Hazy IPA and another one that I like but truthfully, I am not crazy for the hazy style.

Vrolijk in de vrolijke area van buffalo. Maar dat ik te laat ben voor de badge, maakt me minder vrolijk
