Every year we anxiously await the warmer months to unleash this Double IPA, the summer edition of our former YuleSmith seasonals. The flavor imparts orange, grapefruit, and tangerine hop notes with earthy, spicy, and resinous pine undertones. A sturdy malt backbone balances out the profound hop bitterness to create a refreshingly assertive and vibrant beer that offers an unapologetically bold expression of fresh American hops.

Bottle thanks to Jeff. Pours a clear orange with small frothy white head. The aroma is tangerine, grapefruit, and pine. Sticky mouthfeel with nice grapefruit, pine, light bitterness, really enjoyed this one.

Bottle. Aroma is clean American style, hoppy. Citrusy resiny, lightly woody. Bright golden colour. Taste is initially nice smooth honeyish caramel malty. The hoppy bitterness is intensive, but not unpleasant. Pineapple, grapefruit, orange. Full bodied, higher carbonation. Long dry hoppy finish. Very good intensive IPA.

(Thanks Chris "Budznsudz") Bottle. A- Caramel, Butterscotch, citrus, bread. A- Dark yellow color, super cloudy liquid, minimal head. T- Caramel, slight bitterness, citrus, anise, licorice. P- Medium body, average texture, little carbonation, spiced finish. O- You could tell it had some age on it as there was virtually no head to a beer that was suppose to be super heady. The flavors and aromas were crazy. Lots of caramels mixed with fruits, and some anise notes towards the finish. Pretty complex and a solid beer.

66cl Bottle, thanks Gideon! It’s actually called YuleSmith Summer Holiday Ale (nowadays?). Clear golden orange colour, white head. Aroma of strawberry jam, pine, grapefruit, citrus, caramel. Flavour is medium-sweet, light-malty, hint of toast, caramel, pine, grass, grapefruit, citrus, decent hoppy pine bitter finish with some resin. Medium-bodied. The beer was a bit old I guess, but still quite nice.

Fucken bomber @ home, courtesy of womencantsail, a fine sailor and a connoisseur of 1oz beer tasters. Cheers Until Next Time! Pours a fairly clear, golden orange appearance with a cream colored head. Toasted malty, a bit hot, somewhat spicy, herbal, somewhat bready, tangerine/orange fruity hoppy aroma. A bit goopy malty flavor on the tongue. Somewhat bitter, bready, chewy, herbal, pineapple/orange fruity hoppy flavor. Ok. Probably could be a bit more fresh but glad to have finally tried this.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 6/4/2013. Pours fairly crystal clear golden amber color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange zest, pineapple, floral, pine, grass, bread, light caramel, and floral earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of hop notes with a moderate malt balance; and good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, lemon zest, tangerine, pineapple, orange zest, floral, grass, pine, bread, light caramel, and floral earthiness. Fair amount of earthy pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, pineapple, floral, grass, pine, bread, light caramel, and floral earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible balance and complexity of hop flavors; with a moderate malt balance behind the hops and zero cloying bitterness after the finish. Hop flavors are extremely smooth and non-astringent here. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an incredible DIPA style! Big complexity of citrus hop flavors with a moderate malt balance; and extremely smooth and crisp to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering.

1 pt 6 fl oz bottle. Clear yellow amber colour, white fine foam head leaving alittle lacing and aroma of orange, grapefruit, resinous hop. Taste is malt caramel balanced against a citrusy hit of orange & grapefruit hoppy bitterness with resin, pine, vanilla, alcohol notes. Slightly oily mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, warming dry lingering bitter finish. Very drinkable.
