Bottle. Pours a clear deep amber with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has earthy tart cherry with grains and a bit of oak underlying. Flavor has sour cherry and a light funk with a bit of sweet grain and oak underlying.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass; Batch 5, 2018 vintage. Pours slightly hazy deep orange/copper/light reddish color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with solid retention, that reduces to a thin ring of lace that lingers. Minimal spotty lacing, with some clinging bubbles on the glass. Aromas of big sweet/sour red/black cherries, fruit skin/pits, almond, lemon, lime, orange, peach, plum, pear, raspberry, melon, apricot, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty funk, red wine vinegar, and yeasty/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cherries, wine barrels, and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big sweet/sour red/black cherries, fruit skin/pits, almond, lemon, lime, orange, peach, plum, pear, raspberry, melon, apricot, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang; and light yeast/wine tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/sour cherries, fruit skin/pits, almond, lemon, lime, orange, peach, plum, pear, melon, apricot, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, caramel, brown sugar, toasted bread, pepper, light leather/funk/vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cherries, wine barrels, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tart/sourness, and tangy fruit/wine balance; with no puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering tart/sourness and tangy fruit/wine. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7%. Overall this is an awesome Flanders red ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cherries, wine barrels, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish, not overly lactic. Awesome balanced juicy/jammy cherries, Brett/bacteria complexity, wine barrel presence/integration, and malts against acidity. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on style example as expected.

Refrigerated 75 cl brown bottle with copper colored wax from the brewery poured into a Teku. Red with small off-white. Aroma is rich cherries, medium body, low/medium carbonation, and a little lacing. Taste is tart cherries. Quite nice beer.

Tap at Craft Brewed. Pours a, deep ruby with a half finger of pink foam that dissipates quickly. Tart cherry skins, earth and light balsamic aromas. Good body and carbonation. Sweet cherry and blackberry as it warms. Drying finish. Liking this one a lot. --- Beer merged from original tick of Cherry Deux Rouges on 01 Sep 2017 at 19:45 - Score: 8. Another tasty Yazoo sour, layered and full of pucker-inducing goodness. Nose offers up tart cherry with some wine-tinged oak in the background. No head or lacing, but the color’s good, a rust orange-red begging to be sipped. Taste starts with a burst of tart cherry, then gains a mildly sweet undertone, black cherry on top of oak and vanilla, white grape mixing with citric tartness. Finishes slow and sour, cherry and lime building upon a merlot complexity. Fade is bread and sour cherry. Good texture if a bit slack. Overall a lovely beer.

GABF 2015. Dark, muddy, red-brown color. Lots of sediment, it looks like pieces of cherry in the beer. Flavor is good, tart, more cherry but I did not pick up the merlot barrel at all. I really liked this beer.
