Bottle, 75cl corked. Thx to knutalbert. Close to pitch black, with a dense finger thick light tan head. Lots of licorice in the aroma, with roasted malts, brown sugar and a faint bonfire hint. It’s full bodied, smooth and nicely carbonated. Licorice, roasted malts, some coffee grit and roasted malts. Lasting coffee-ish, licorice finish. Pleasant and dangerously easy drinkable, perhaps lacking a bit on complexity. 160722

Bottle rescued from turding at a bar in Porto airporto. Very dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of overripe dark fruit, cocoa, toffee, fudge and malt. Flavour is over moderate sweet and light moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. It’s not an imperial stout or Dunkler bock as the listing suggests. It’s a sweet stout, an ok one but nothing special.

75cl bottle courtesy of and shared with Kermis. very thin tan head. Clear almost black pour. It’s not an imperial stout. Maybe a stout or porter as it’s only 7%. Pleasant drinking but drop imperial from the name please. I was looking forward to this until I tasted it.

Review according to BJCP2008 guidelines (style 13F. Russian Imperial Stout). 75cl bottle - Batch L2806241. AROMA: mild sweet chocolate notes combined with roasted malt and alcohol. no esters or hop aromas. lacks more roasted aromas. APPEARANCE: deep black and opaque (with help from food colouring E150c). very tanned head with average retention. TASTE: very low bitterness and absent hop flavours, moderate roasted grains flavours (coffee-like), very low esters. relative sweet finish (maybe from the caramel food colouring). Somewhat solvent-like alcohol flavour evident. PALATE: medium body with light velvety texture. low alcohol warmth with moderate carbonation. OVERALL: an average comercial style imperial stout that could be better without the food colouring (E150c) and more roasted malt. much better than the brand regular artificial stout, nonetheless.

Bottled, thanks andregoncalves! Near black, minimal head. Cardboard arma. Sweet with medium body and clean mouthfeel. Syrup and cardboard, slight caramel. Slightly metallic finish. Dumping some black malt in a macro lager does not make it an imperial stout, nor does it make it a good beer.
