Shared from bottle at deanso’s. 2 months passed its best before date. Hazy brownish amber, offwhite head. Roasty smokey caramel malts. Würst und braten. Wood. Medium sweet, over medium smokey, medium bitter and light sour. Medium body, lot of carbonation, soft feel. Smokey caramel, sour woody finish. Would love to try again fresh!

Bottle shared thanks to sjogro. Bit past best before date. Hazy amber with beige head. Smoked sausage, some peach, caramel, ash, light grassy. More smoked meats, fries, old fat. Almost medium sweet, light sour and bitter. Medium bodied. I don’t like it. It’s obviously gone way downhill from a fresh specimen, but it’s mostly the smoke that doesn’t do it for me.

Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a cloudy dark brownish amber with a large lingering tan coloured head that leaves some tight lace. Nose is strong smoke, grain with some yeast and light banana. Flavour is lightly sweet with a touch of spice and a light bitterness towards the finish. The smoke is more subtle than in the nose. Medium body with slightly soft carbonation. 6/4-/7/3+/13

Bottle, courtesy of SinH4. Smoked bacon aroma, but not as intense as others. Has that clear weizen texture without the yeast-forwardness. Meaty throughout. Full-bodied, a bit oily. Nice.

From a 500ml bottle on 12/6/2016. Pours a deep amber with a small head. Smells like smoky bacon with a bit of basement. Not surprisingly, the smoke dominates against some faint wheat notes. A bacon and fire ash beer with a wheat beer finish! Medium body and moderate carbonation. Very interesting and more than pleasant (unless you hate smoked beers), but not in the same class as the Doppelbock for mine.

Bottle @ Grayston Unity, Halifax. Hazy mid-brown coloured ale with a small head. Gently smoked in both aroma and taste, this is still the dominant feature of the beer and it’s very tasty for it. Ham is evident, it has a fairly easy-drinking texture for its strength, and there’s a few dark malts evident too.
